CSC119 Introduction to Programming

Installing Python
You need to access the [Link] Web Site and click on the download Python button or choose
the appropriate Operating System. Python can be run on Windows, Unix or Apple OS.

Download the Python. This example shows the current version. Note higher more recent versions are
available so your screen will show that version, either 32-bit or 64-bit. The bit version does not matter
for our course. Once the file has downloaded run it. Click on Customize Installation.

Check all the boxes for on the Optional Features dialog and click next.

Check the checkboxes of your choice, but make sure the Add Python to environment variables is
checked.

Check this box.

Install in a folder
for easy access.
C:\python36 or
C:\Program Files

Install in progress…..

Installation complete, click Close.

After the installation, Python should have been added to your Windows Program list menu. For
convenience, one can pin it to the Start menu and/or Task Bar.
