Self-Introduction

My name is Toolit Sunday Denish, a Ugandan national born on 25th May 2000. I completed
both my Ordinary Level (UCE – 2022) and Advanced Level (UACE – 2024) education at
Entebbe Comprehensive Secondary School, Uganda, under the Uganda National
Examinations Board (UNEB). I am applying for admission to the Bachelor of Pharmacy
(BPharm) program in China with a strong academic interest in pharmaceutical sciences,
drug formulation, clinical pharmacy, and public health. I am a disciplined, motivated, and
scientifically oriented student whose long-term goal is to serve the healthcare system of my
country through professional pharmacy practice, research, and pharmaceutical
development.

Academic Background and Preparation for Pharmacy

My academic journey reflects a solid foundation in science-related subjects, which directly
supports my readiness for Pharmacy studies.
At Ordinary Level (UCE – 2022), I successfully passed ten subjects, achieving Division 2,
which demonstrates consistent academic performance across a wide range of subjects. My
core science subjects included:
• Chemistry – Grade 6
• Biology – Grade 6
• Physics – Grade 6
• Mathematics – Grade 5
• Agriculture – Grade 4
These results provided me with early exposure to chemical reactions, biological systems,
laboratory safety, numerical computation, and applied sciences—all fundamental to
pharmaceutical education.
At Advanced Level (UACE – 2024), I pursued science-focused subjects crucial for Pharmacy:
• Chemistry – Principal (B)
• Biology – Subsidiary (C)
• Agriculture – Principal (C)
• General Paper – Subsidiary
• Mathematics – Subsidiary
My school A-Level terminal reports show consistent academic improvement, with total
points rising from 15 to 16, indicating stronger mastery of scientific concepts over time. In
Chemistry, I consistently attained B grades, demonstrating strong understanding in organic
chemistry, chemical kinetics, acids and bases, stoichiometry, and laboratory analysis,
which are core pillars of pharmaceutical science. In Biology, I developed knowledge in cell
biology, genetics, microbiology, and human physiology, all essential for pharmacology and
medicinal biochemistry.
 My subsidiary mathematics strengthened my analytical and quantitative reasoning skills,
vital for drug dose calculations, pharmacokinetics, and biostatistics. My teachers
consistently described my performance as “Very Good”, with remarks highlighting
discipline, consistency, and strong scientific potential.

Motivation to Study Pharmacy

My motivation to study Pharmacy is rooted in both personal experience and societal needs.
In my community, access to qualified pharmaceutical care is limited, and improper drug
use, self-medication, counterfeit medicines, and antimicrobial resistance are common
challenges. I have witnessed cases where patients suffered not from the disease itself but
from wrong drug dosage, fake medicines, and lack of pharmaceutical guidance.
Pharmacy stands at the critical intersection of chemistry, biology, medicine, and public
health. It offers me the opportunity to contribute directly to safe drug production, quality
control, rational drug use, clinical pharmacy practice, and pharmaceutical research. I am
especially interested in:
• Pharmacology and toxicology
• Medicinal chemistry
• Pharmaceutics and drug formulation
• Clinical pharmacy and patient care
• Pharmaceutical quality assurance
My strong background in Chemistry and Biology motivates me to pursue a profession where
I can apply molecular science to real medical solutions. My long-term interest is also in
pharmaceutical research and drug development, especially for tropical and infectious
diseases common in Africa.

Why I Choose to Study Pharmacy in China

China is globally recognized for its advanced pharmaceutical education, modern research
infrastructure, and cost-effective high-quality medical training. Chinese universities
combine theoretical knowledge with intensive laboratory practice, pharmaceutical
technology, and hospital-based clinical training. This experimental learning approach is
exactly what I need to become a competent future pharmacist.
China is also a world leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, traditional
Chinese medicine (TCM), vaccine production, and modern drug innovation. Studying in such
an advanced environment will expose me to:
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Modern drug synthesis technology
• Advanced pharmaceutical instrumentation
• Clinical pharmacy systems
• Pharmacovigilance and regulatory science
Additionally, China’s strong academic cooperation with African countries and the availability
of well-structured international programs taught in English make it an ideal destination for
my professional development. I also highly value China’s discipline-oriented academic
culture, innovation-driven research environment, and safe learning atmosphere.

Future Plans After Graduation (Linking China and Uganda)

After completing my Bachelor of Pharmacy in China, I plan to return to Uganda to contribute
to my country’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sector. My primary objectives include:

1. Professional Pharmacy Practice:

I plan to work in public hospitals, private pharmacies, or medical supply institutions,
ensuring proper drug dispensing, patient counseling, medication safety, and rational drug
use.

2. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Quality Control:

Uganda depends heavily on imported medicines. I aim to participate in local
pharmaceutical production, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, applying
Chinese pharmaceutical standards to improve drug quality in Uganda.

3. Public Health and Drug Safety Awareness:

I intend to engage in community education programs to combat drug misuse, counterfeit
medicines, and antimicrobial resistance.

4. Future Postgraduate Studies and Research Collaboration:

After gaining practical experience, I plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Pharmacy or
Pharmacology, potentially through China-Africa scientific collaboration, contributing to
research on tropical diseases and affordable medicines.

Through these efforts, I seek to act as a bridge of medical and pharmaceutical knowledge
between China and Uganda, strengthening bilateral cooperation in healthcare and
pharmaceutical sciences.
Conclusion
My academic background in Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, and Mathematics, combined
with strong performance in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, has fully
prepared me for the academic rigor of Pharmacy studies. My passion for pharmaceutical
science, commitment to healthcare development, and clear professional goals align
perfectly with the Bachelor of Pharmacy program in China.

I am confident that studying in China will provide me with world-class training, practical
laboratory competence, clinical exposure, and research capacity, enabling me to become a
responsible, innovative, and socially impactful pharmacist. I respectfully request the
admission committee to grant me this opportunity to pursue my pharmaceutical education
and contribute meaningfully to both Chinese-African academic cooperation and the future
healthcare development of Uganda.
