TYPES OF PROPORTION — Simple Notes

Direct Proportion: When one value increases, the other also increases.

Inverse Proportion: When one value increases, the other decreases.

Compound Proportion: When two or more values change together.


Direct Proportion Q1: A car washer can wash 8 cars in 18 minutes. How many cars in 3 hours?
Direct Proportion Q2: Sicot can read 50 pages per hour. How many pages in 50 minutes?
Inverse Proportion Q1: A group of students planned to finish work in 25 days. But 10 students did
not come, and it took 35 days. Find original students.
Inverse Proportion Q2: One tank fills in 3 minutes. How many tanks in 2 hours?
Compound Proportion Q1: 40 cows eat 40 bags in 40 days. How many days for 1 cow to eat 1 bag?
