How to enable Repeater Bridge on D-Link DIR-600 AP
Well, after dealing for quite some time with two D-Link DIR-600 access points
which according to the seller allows for wireless interconnection,
of course, the specifications on the box did not show anything about that, I
I was looking for the WDS (Wireless Distribution System) feature that I have seen.
in other access points.
Upon opening the box and trying its options, nothing happened at all.
allows for a wireless interconnection between the APs.
Remembering that in the Linksys access points there is the possibility of
put a different firmware, from [Link], to see if the D-Link AP
DIR600 had support.
The good news was that yes, but the bad news is that I couldn't stand the option.
Client Bridge, which is what I need, but if it supports Repeater Bridge,
this option is similar but it is more difficult to configure.
So, with the required care, update the firmware accordingly to the
instructions: ([Link]
Now to find a way to enable the Repeater Bridge option, I found
in the same wiki some procedures, but with the novelty that not
were supported for the dlink chip, which is of Ralink type.
So after browsing through several places I came across a
procedure written by a user whose nickname is blitter.
To connect the two APs it is necessary:
AP 1 will connect to the Internet, therefore the firmware will not be updated.
since this will act as a router and therefore with the configuration
basic and functional.
AP 2, we updated the firmware with dd-wrt, I downloaded the
version V24 presSp2 Build 14896
The steps in the AP 2 are:
We access the AP through the browser with the IP [Link]
2. We configure the LAN on the AP (we change the IP, mask, and gateway of
link)
3. We connect to the AP, with the new IP (if they changed it)
4. It is advisable to check if the AP before setting the configurations.
2 find the AP 1, for this we can go to the Status option
status), then select Wireless Network and click
In the Site Survey option, it will show us all the devices.
nearby wifi.
5. Now in the basic settings tab we do:
WAN, Connection Type: Disable
Router Name: cualquier nombre
Local IP: (los datos de nuestra red: ip, mascara, puerta de enlace)
WAN Port: It can be reconfigured to act as another port.
for LAN
Time Settings: leave it by default
We only save (there are two buttons, save and apply)
7. in the Wireless settings tab:
Wireless mode: Repeater Bridge
Wireless Network Mode: Mixed
SSID: It can be the same as AP 1
It must be the same as AP 1
SSID Broadcast: Habilitado
Network Configuration: in Bridged
We save
8. Now the Wireless Security option:
Security Mode: Disabled (it can be configured later)
9: Let's go to Services
We disabled the option: DNSMasq
We save
10: Let's go to Security/Firewall
First, we deactivate everything except the Filter Multicast option.
and then we disable the SPI Firewall
We save
11: Now in the Administration option we click on Apply all
changes
Well, that's all, we wait a bit and then we can try the
interconnection between the APs
