Digital literacy has expanded beyond basic computer skills to include critical

thinking, responsible communication, and ethical information use. In the past,

reading and writing defined literacy, but today the ability to evaluate online
sources, identify misinformation, protect personal data, and communicate
effectively across platforms matters just as much. The internet provides access to
immense information, yet not all content is trustworthy. Recognizing bias and
verifying sources become essential skills. Additionally, digital citizenship
includes respectful online behavior, understanding cyberbullying, and navigating
privacy settings responsibly. Schools increasingly integrate digital literacy
programs as young people grow up using devices daily. Adults also require
continuous training as technology evolves rapidly. Artificial intelligence tools
introduce new opportunities and challenges, from automated workplaces to
algorithmic decision-making. To thrive in a digital world, individuals must
cultivate adaptability, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Digital literacy empowers
people to access opportunities, protect themselves online, and contribute
responsibly to global communities.
