Title: Community Service Report
I am writing this report to inform you about the community service that l undertook at
XXXXX Laboratories from the 7th of February 2024 to the 1st of March .2024
XXXXX Laboratories was established in October 2010. The laboratory is ISO 15189 Ac-
credited. It has more than 15 employees per branch. When I started my community service, I
was first trained about laboratory rules and how the laboratory work is contacted. I was re-
porting to the chief Laboratory Scientist. The environment was amazing and friendly. I was
both working on day and sometimes night shift.

XXXXX Laboratories account for a significant amount of all pathology tests done in Zimb-
abwe with an extensive network of branches and satellite labs throughout the country

All the Laboratories and branches are fully staffed with qualified Medical Laboratory
Scientists, nursing staff and administration personnel. They are all computerised and linked
with the main Laboratory and equipped with state of the art testing equipment.

My duties at XXXXX Laboratories, included the following

 Examining and analysing blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells

 Relaying test results to doctors
 Utilizing microscopes, cell counters, and other high-precision lab
equipment
 Cross-matching blood for transfusion
 Monitoring patient outcomes
 Performing differential cell counts looking for abnormal cells to aid
in the diagnosis of anemia and leukemia
 Establishing quality assurance programs to monitor and ensure the
accuracy of test results.

A lot of patients benefited with free medical information and diagnosis during my com-
munity service

Helping others is one of the major attributes a noble minded human being should possess. l
served the laboratory with many duties and indulge in many activities roles which include

general work and office work, I also assist in claiming medical claims and help in recording
temperature charts and drivers mileage books.

Community service is something that can be done in order to serve your community
expecting nothing in return. The staff at was so helpful not to mention their sense of
collaboration when working with the crowd, which was indeed a great deed.

This really shows that helping your community should be a priority so as to cater for the
wellness and wellbeing of others. This was the type of services l served at XXXXXXX
Laboratories wholeheartedly. For the next consecutive days, up to sixth day, we worked in the
cash office, doing statistical calculations which requires a lot of mathematical thinking

This community service helped me a lot because it included life skills such as team work,
improved my communication skills and also problem solving. I was able to work with my
fellow students and the drivers with a great attitude and in a very acceptable way considering
unhu/ubuntu that is ubuntuism concept. We could supervise ourselves to do everything that
was expected to be done which is the other thing l learned there.

In addition, the communication skills also improved my attitude towards others and myself,
and also how l should work with others considering intercultural communication. This helped
me to view life with a different perspective that helping others should not be an option but
rather a priority. Problem solving is also another life skill that I experienced during this
splendid period of serving my community. I did not blame anyone if there was a problem,
instead we solved the problem together. My recommendations to all the work I have done is
proven by my supervisor Mr XXXXX, the laboratory manager.

In conclusion generally the community service helps us to improve the way we think and
interact, dealing with mixed environment needs patient and carefulness and also you can
learn to understand each other. Perspective also help me to put myself in someone’s shoes
removing misunderstanding and emotional stress.
