Instructions:
Complete the following exercises in Microsoft Excel and answer the
questions in this document in the spaces provided.
Exercise 1
1. Open Microsoft Excel and copy the following information. Save your
document as ‘ Spreadsheet Exercises Booklet. These exercises will
need to be uploaded onto Learning Tasks as part of your Assessment.
2. Answer the following questions
a. What is the text in cell A6?

3. Merge and Centre the heading – All hits Music Store Stocktake. Do
this by highlighting the heading and clicking on

6. Calculate the Grand total by using Autosum button found at the
top of your toolbar. See below. It is highlighted in yellow. Don’t forget to
press Enter.

right clicking sheet 1 at the bottom of your Microsoft Excel document.

3. Don’t forget to click on the SAVE button.
4. Change the colour of your heading and centre it by using the merge
and centre button.
5. You are to FORMAT your table. Do this, by highlighting it and clicking
on FORMAT AS TABLE icon, found at the top. Select any colour you
wish to use. Here is an example below
6. SORT and FILTER the title and singer columns by using the
Alphabetical order option

7. Copy and paste your table into the space below. Don’t forget to save
your document.
8. Change the lyrics of your favourite song using an AI program. OR
write a new song about an interest. Insert the changes in the table below.

1. Write your top 10 favourite holiday destinations in Australia and the
table below. An example is included. These could be places you have
visited or wish to visit. Include at least one Indigenous landmark

8. Create a Chart / Graph showing the Airfare price for each destination.
To this by click on the Insert icon.
9. Create an Advertisement about your favourite Destination. It can take any format you
wish. Insert your Advertisement in the space below.

1. Click onto the + button. Rename this spreadsheet to Ex 4 – Allmine
Gold Mines Incorporated. Save your document.

2. Create the following spreadsheet. Don’t forget to centre the headings
and change the font colour.
3. Use the Autosum function highlighted below to add the totals.

1. Click onto the + button. Rename this spreadsheet to Ex Slice of
Heaven Cake shop. Save your document.
2. Create the following spreadsheet. Don’t forget to centre the heading
and change the font colour.
3. Calculate the cost per slice. This is done by dividing the cake cost by
the slices. For example:
=C5/D5
4. Calculate the profit per slice. The is done by subtracting the cost
per slice from the price per slice. For example,
=F5 -E5

5. Which cake makes the most profit per slice?

each cake if every piece of each cake was sold.

Exercise 6
1. Click onto the + button. Rename this spreadsheet to Ex 6 – Canteen
Order Form. Save your document.
2. Create a canteen order form for yourself as an online booking
system. Use the example below as a guide. You will need to change
the items and use the prices at the provided by the canteen at WHSC.

3. Calculate the Total for each canteen item you are planning to order
by multiplying the price by the quantity. For example
= D8*E8
4. Add the totals for all the items you wish to purchase using the
Autosum function. Write the formula you used and the Total amount
into the space below
If you need to sum a column or row of numbers, let Excel do the math
for you. Select a cell next to the numbers you want to sum, select
AutoSum on the Home tab, press Enter, and you're done.
5. Enter a formula that calculates the CHANGE. Insert the formula
below.
E8+E9+E10+E11=F14
6. What happens to the order form if you change the Quantities and
the amount of money enclosed. Show this on your spreadsheet and
write your answer below.
If the quantity or amount is changed, all totals and change will be
automatically updated because the formula will be recalculated.
