Understanding Missiology and Its Importance
Understanding Missiology and Its Importance
INTRODUCTION
The word 'Missiology' comes from two others, from the Latin 'missione' which
means a function or power granted to someone for a special purpose in another
nation, land, territory, group or domain, eLogy, from the Greek logos meaning study,
treaty, doctrine, theory or science.
God played the role of the first missionary when He descended to the Garden of Eden.
and proclaimed the gospel to the parents of all humankind, hidden in the loins of Adam
(Gn. 3.15), after that, Jesus took on the role of envoy when he completed the mission
from the one who entrusted him, and today the Holy Spirit is the agent of the missions
contemporary.
Therefore, we can say that Theology without Missiology does not make sense, already
that the ultimate goal of true Theology is precisely the unique purpose of Missiology.
Sincere theology undoubtedly leads us towards practical missiology, like a
effective means of reaching the ultimate goal of one's Theology, namely, the redeemed man
bringing to the lost man the good news that God sent His only Son to
save him from eternal destruction.
After the resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ prioritized three commands to the disciples,
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). “Go,
therefore go and make disciples of all nations" (MT. 28:19). "And you will be my
witnesses both in Jerusalem..., to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8). These three
Bible passages are sufficient to describe the priorities of the Lord Jesus, which is the
evangelization of the world. Even before the resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ had already
dito que primeiro, o evangelho seria pregado a todas as nações e depois viria o fim
(MT. 24. 14). Even in those days, the Lord Jesus felt such a need for the work
missionary who once, when looking at the harvest, and still four months away from the
harvest! I already see the white fields for the harvest: 'Do you not say: There are still four months until
the harvest? I tell you: Lift up your eyes and see the fields, that they are already white
for the harvest" (John 4:35).
The book of Acts of the Apostles mentions the great deeds of the apostles in
beginning of Christianity, in Jerusalem. We know, however, that the disciples did nothing
it would be if it weren't for the command given by Lord Jesus, before his ascension to heaven:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my

After they were filled with the Holy Spirit, the world was reached by the preaching.
of the gospel, and this is due to the great propagator of missions, the Holy Spirit. He is the
the greatest encourager of the missionary work, as it drives, encourages, and calls the
missionaries, we notice such a statement in the book of Acts, chapter 13, when the
The church of Antioch was gathered: "The Holy Spirit said: Set apart for me now, Saul and
Barnabas, for the work to which I have called you" (Acts 13:2). The mission of the Holy Spirit is
to call the missionaries, as well as to convince the world of sin, justice, and of
judgment (Jo. 16:8).
The missionaries are sent to preach to the sinner, but it is the Holy Spirit
who convinces them to accept the message preached by the missionaries.
Without the Bible, the evangelization of the world would be not only impossible, but also
unthinkable. She gives us the mandate, the model, and the power for the evangelization of the world,
the Bible not only contains the gospel, but it is the gospel itself (good news).
Through her, God is evangelizing, that is, communicating the good news to
world. Jesus himself commanded his disciples, saying: "Go into all the world
Preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).
The Bible is the missionary's manual; without it, there is no salvation: "So that the
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Rom. 10:17). "And you shall know the
truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32), therefore the Bible is the tool
inseparable from the good soldier (Js. 1. 8).
In light of this brief exposition of the biblical context of the origin of missions having
Your beginning with God Himself, let's now analyze some important points that are
treated by this discipline.
Given that the meaning of the word missions is to send, to dispatch, to remit, the
sent goes with the purpose of announcing Christ and God's plan for salvation of
all men. Thus, missions encompass three well-defined stages that are:
A. Local mission: Covers the local community and surrounding areas. Ex: neighborhoods and
neighboring cities.
B. National mission: It encompasses all the limits of the nation of origin of the missionary.

those who go. The missionary work is a task that requires a joint effort of
church and of the missionaries.
In a period of three and a half years, the disciples were with Jesus and were able to
receive valuable lessons that would be the foundation for their ministries. In the sermon of
Mountain, Jesus worked on the character of the disciples, he also gave practical lessons on
evangelism, mission strategies and gave them the great commission, promising to be
with them every day!
When a candidate for the missionary work is discipled in their local church, and has
work experience in this church is already a big step.
However, there are other areas that deserve to be included in the preparation for this future.

Missiology: it is the science that is aimed at the study of the great commission given by Christ.

evangelizer. It is the study of the missionary work ordered by Jesus Christ to his disciples,
in the national and transcultural mandate (MT. 28. 19 / MC 16. 15 / AT 1. 8).
The study of missiology is of fundamental importance, as it deals with the supreme task of
church, which is the evangelization of the peoples. For many years, we have heard about this well-known
phrase: "Mission is in the heart of God." We know that God's interest has always been, and
it will always be, to reach all peoples, races, nations, and tribes of all languages. However,
In these last few days, God is interested in knowing if missions are also in our
hearts. The fundamental point of missiology is to define the strategies and parameters of
great commission given by Jesus, such as: Who sends and who is sent; what are the
obstacles of contemporary missions; how will the reach of the unreached peoples be and the
evangelization of all peoples, in a general way.
God played the role of the first missionary when He descended to the Garden of Eden and proclaimed the
gospel to the parents of all human race, hidden in the loins of Adam. After this, Jesus
he played the role of an envoy when he completed the mission of the one who entrusted it to him.
The Holy Spirit is the agent of contemporary missions. However, we learned that the
Trindade formed the first missionary council.
All of God's creation is important. However, God chose man in a special way,
forming him in his image and likeness (Gen. 1:26-28).
God created angelic beings, with different degrees of responsibilities and authorities. He gave them
a cherub, a beauty never seen in other angels and splendid wisdom (Ezekiel 28:12-
17). This angel acted as God's prime minister, having in addition to the qualities mentioned,
great power and free will. But, with so much power and beauty, Lucifer, as it was left
known, was so amazed by what God had given him that he wished to "be like the
"Most High" (Is. 14:14), with this he led an unprecedented rebellion in all of history, with the
purpose of establishing a spurious kingdom, together with the angels who accompanied him
in this rebellion (Rev. 12:4-9). For having incited rebellion, Lucifer, now called Satan,
received the judgment of God and the expulsion from heaven. Some time after the rebellion, God made another
creation, which also granted free will: mankind. In creating him, God showed His
special care: made a garden of delights for your new creation to inhabit. Satan,

creation of God.
God established a relationship of companionship and communion with Adam and Eve, in
Garden of Eden, through love. So that they would continue this relationship with God,
they would only have to pass the test of total obedience to the divine will, but they failed.
With the fall, the love of God wrote the history of redemption. For He had already foreseen the
the possibility of man to sin and devised a way to redeem him. And it was like this that God
descended to the Garden of Eden that gloomy afternoon and proclaimed, like an authentic missionary,
first evangelistic message, recorded in Genesis 3:15, "...I will put enmity between you and the woman..."
woman, between your offspring and his offspring. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.
"heel". This is the first reference to Christ in the Bible, relating to the defeat of Satan,
your sentence and the good news of victory over failure.
At that moment, God was announcing Christ to all the descendants of Adam, who

In John 3:16, we find God's plan characterized by sending His only Son to
world, to build the story of redemption, in an inexplicable expression of love, to the point,
the apostle John, who skillfully described the apotheotic scene of God's love, having used
the expression "in such a way", as a way of trying to explain the depth of love of
God to the world. Love that transcends cultural, rational, and linguistic boundaries, not
restricting itself to a specific race, nation, or cultural group. He loves all peoples and
wants all men to repent and be saved through the work done by
Jesus Christ.

The Bible is the missionary's manual, without it there is no salvation: "So faith comes from hearing,

(Jo. 8. 32), therefore the Bible is the inseparable tool of the good soldier (Js. 1. 8).
We have already learned in the first chapter of this epistle that the living God is a missionary God. And the
the greatest example of missions in the Old Testament begins with the calling of Abraham, around
four thousand years ago.
In Genesis 12, the great promise made to Abraham begins: "In you all will be blessed...
families of the earth" (Gn 12. 1-4). God's promise to Abraham is divided into three aspects.
main:
The promise of a land.
The promise of a blessing.
The promise of a posterity.
After Lot had separated from Abraham, God said to him: 'Lift up your eyes and look from where you are'
to the north, to the south, to the east and to the west, because all this land that you see, I
"I will give you and your descendants forever" (Gen. 13:14-15), there the promise was confirmed
a land to Abraham and his descendants.
In Genesis 12:1-4, the words: blessings and bless appear five times. The blessing that
God promised Abraham it would overflow over all humanity.
A little later, God confirms to Abraham the promise of his posterity, symbolized
like the dust of the earth and like the stars of the sky so numerous it would be.
God fulfilled this promise, because the dust of the earth symbolized the natural descendants of
Abraham, the children of Israel, who were born through his grandson Jacob (Gn. 32:12).
The stars in the sky symbolized spiritual descent, which are all those who accept the
Jesus Christ, who is a descendant of Abraham in the flesh (Gal. 3:29), therefore the promise of God
made to Abraham, saying: 'All the families of the earth will be blessed in you' (Gen. 12:3), is fulfilled
perfectly because the New Testament begins by saying: "Book of the genealogy of Jesus
Christ, son of David, son of Abraham" (Mt. 1.1). All the families of the earth that accept Jesus
they also become children of Abraham and heirs of the same promise given to him (Gal. 3:7-29)
Rm. 4. 16 - 17).
Jesus Christ is this missionary promise, made by God in the Old Testament, by stating:
I tell you that many will come from the east and the west and will take their place at the table with Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven (Mt. 8:11-12).
Many believe that the missionary vision does not resonate as much in the Old Testament. This is due to the
fact that many do not understand that God was preparing the nation of Israel as a light
of the world in the midst of that pagan world. Let us note this in Exodus 19:4-6 / Psalms 67 and,
mainly in Genesis 12:1-3. After that we see the story of Jonah, who was
sent by God to the city of Nineveh, as an authentic Jewish missionary, to preach to the
Nineveh. We still see the story of Isaiah (Is. 6:8), Jeremiah (Jr. 1:5) and other prophets.
God's missionary plan for Israel was divided into three points:
Proclaim your plan to bless the nations (Gen. 12:1-3).
Participate in your priesthood as an agent of this blessing (Ex. 19:4-6).
Proving your purpose to bless all Nations (Ps. 67).
The first point shown above contradicts those who defend the theory that, in
In the Old Testament, the missionary vision was extremely nationalistic, due to the fact that God
treat the nation of Israel in a peculiar way.
If we observe the Bible, we will find that in its first chapter, even before the
man to sin, the word given to Adam and Eve was this: 'And God blessed them and said to them: Be'
"be fruitful, multiply." After the sin, this blessing was broken by the curse (see the
contrast between Genesis 1:28 and Genesis 3:17), but in Gn. 12:3, with the calling of Abraham, God
promises to bless again all the families of the earth, through the descendants of Abraham
I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.
The second point shows God's plan to use Israel as an intercessor for the other nations.
before God.
The third point is the meaning of Psalm 67, applied to all peoples, through which
God had given to Israel, shown through signs and wonders. This is perceived,
mainly, when God opened the Red Sea and the Jordan River, these events caused
that all other nations feared the God of Israel, a fact that is proven by
testimony of Rahab "...for we have heard that the Lord dried up the waters of the Red Sea"

In the book of Acts of the Apostles, we find the answer to the question asked above. Millions
Christians believe that the book of Acts of the Apostles and that of Luke record the obedience of
the Apostles to the great commission. But, in fact, they report their reluctance to
obey her. We know that the Jews have always been exclusivist and this has been the great obstacle
for the fulfillment of the great commission. It seems to us that the twelve apostles did not understand the
mission bestowed by Jesus to them. We realize this when Cornelius sent messengers.
they will look for Pedro. If it weren't for the warning that the Lord had given to Pedro, through the
vision of the sheet (Read Acts 10:9-16), he would not have accepted to go announce the gospel,
first time, to the folks.
The Spirit of God Himself warned Peter, saying: "Get up, therefore, and go down and go with them,"
nothing doubting, for I sent them" (Acts 10:20).
When it became known to the apostles in Jerusalem and to the believers in Judea that
Pedro had preached to the Gentiles, they began to criticize him for his attitude. Now I ask: will

They wanted the gospel to be restricted only to the Jews. Let's see what Galatians 3:26 says.

this that the Lord Jesus conveyed to them. When the news that Peter had preached to the
Cornelius' house arrived in Jerusalem, the apostles gathered to give the following opinion:
Either Christianity would remain restricted to the region of Palestine, or it would advance through it to the borders of
"Earth". After a great debate among the apostles, Peter took the floor, making a

missionary. When they finished, Tiago, who chaired the meeting, took the floor and made a
exhibition, showing biblical references in which the prophets predicted the name of Jesus
would be invoked among the Gentiles. With this, the Council of Jerusalem, around the year 50 AD,
recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, chapter 15, gave his favorable opinion for the expansion of
Christianity among the Gentiles and even to the ends of the earth.
13 - Missionary Panorama in the Acts of the Apostles.
We will now study the missionary action developed by the primitive Church and by the apostles,
at the beginning of Christianity.
Acts 01 - Before the ascension, Jesus outlines the geographical profile of the missionary work, starting
through Jerusalem, Samaria, Judea, and even to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).

Acts 3 - The primitive church already had more than 3,000 members. It was an army of
people, filled with the Holy Spirit, spreading the seed throughout all regions.
Acts 04 - The result of this dissemination, mentioned in chapter three, is already noted in this chapter,
for the Church of Christ has already surpassed the mark of 5,000 members. This growth begins
to frighten the authorities, to the point that Peter and John appeared before the Sanhedrin and were prohibited
to speak the Name of Jesus.

do plano missionário traçado por Jesus Cristo, em Atos 1. 8.
The Apostle Paul is undoubtedly the greatest missionary that Christianity has ever had. When
he converted on the road to Damascus, God said to Ananias: "This is for me a vessel
chosen, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings, as well as before the children of
Israel" (Acts 9:15). Paul's calling was complete. He would be a missionary before
religious, civil and military authorities, in front of the rich and the poor, in front of the ignorant and
intellectuals, Gentiles, and Israelites. In the book of Acts of the Apostles, we find Paul.
evangelizing all these types of people; from the ignorant Demetrius to the wise and
Epicurean and Stoic philosophers; from poor people in Judea to those of high status in Berea,
from the false prophet Elimas to the proconsul Sergius Paulus; from the plebs of the Empire to the
troop commander Cláudio Lísia, from the Pharisee to the president of the Sanhedrin.
God noticed that the twelve apostles were not properly fulfilling the great
commission, for they only wanted to stay in Jerusalem. It was at this moment that Jesus appeared to Paul,
on the road to Damascus, and called him to be the great missionary apostle among the Jews
scattered and people of the vast Roman Empire at that time.
The Apostle Paul was the great trump of Christianity in its global expansion. According to what
he himself affirms, in his letter written to the Galatians (Galatians 1:15-18), after his conversion
parted for Arabia, probably for a preparation with God, after 3 years, ascended to
Jerusalem, where he was with the apostles. This visit of Paul to Jerusalem seems to have been
enough to understand the lack of interest of that Church in missions and, from the conversation that
he had with the pastor of that Church who was Tiago, Paulo observed the disinterest in fulfilling the
the order of Jesus, when he said to his disciples: "Stay in Jerusalem until you are received from on high"
"clothed with power" (Luke 24:49).
There was a misunderstanding on the part of the disciples, because Jesus said: '...until...'
that is, until the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and then they should go to the ends of the
land. However, the apostles wanted to remain only in Jerusalem. In Mark 16:15, the
The imperative given by Jesus Christ: 'Go...', is translated to the Greek word 'Poreuthentes', which
to mean: part, leave, cross borders. Paul, knowing this, went to gather in the Church of
Antioquia.
The Church of Antioch became the first to carry out transcultural missions. During a
consecration of fasting and prayer, said the Holy Spirit: "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul now
for the work to which I have called them" (Acts 13:2). On his first journey, Paul went through
several provinces of Asia Minor, such as: Salamina and Paphos, on the island of Cyprus, Antioch and
Iconium, in Lystra and Derbe, in Lycaonia. This being the first missionary journey, made before the
Council of Jerusalem, in the year 50 A.D.
After the Jerusalem Council, Paul undertook his second missionary journey, visiting the
Churches of the Continents, which were established on the first voyage. It went to the shores of
Aegean Sea, Troas, ancient city of Troy, traveled to Europe, establishing Churches in
Philippi, Thessalonica, and Berea, in the province of Macedonia. It was to Athens, the cultured city of
Greece, and established a quite strong journey in Corinth. Finally, he ended this second
trip with a brief visit to Ephesus, in Asia Minor.
This third journey of the apostle was very long, starting from Antioch, Galatia and Phrygia,
he stayed for two years in Ephesus, passing again through Macedonia. In Greece he preaches a
sermon in Troas, where under the anointing of God, a young man who had fallen from the third floor is resurrected.
walk. Says goodbye to the Elders in Ephesus, passes through Tyre, Caesarea and arrives in Jerusalem. After
to be saved from a plot orchestrated by the Jews, is rescued to Caesarea, where he presents his
defense before governors Felix, Festus, and King Agrippa, when then, appeals to Caesar, and is
sent to Rome.
On the trip to Rome, he traveled on a ship with 276 people and suffers a shipwreck, however
everyone arrives safely on an island called Malta, where they stay for three months, evangelizing
that people are being won for Christ, including the chief of the island. After his departure, arrives at
Rome, where he writes six Epistles, which are: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Galatians,
Romans and Philemon.
In Rome, Paul was imprisoned for about two years, and during three or four years in which
he was at liberty, undertook his fourth and last missionary journey. He was in
Nicopolis, on the Adriatic Sea, where tradition states that Paul was imprisoned and taken back to
Rome, being martyred there in the year 68 A.D.. However, the apostle had 33 years of
ministry. The missionary work was so strong in Paul's life that he considered it as a
obligation (ICo. 9. 16). Paul, despite being dead, left us his immortal theology, the greatest legacy
that the Church can have. He was the author of one of the greatest treaties on transcultural missions:
How will they hear, unless someone preaches? And how will they preach, unless they are sent?
For I am debtor, both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to foolish.
ignorant ones, for this reason, as far as it is in me, I am ready to announce the gospel also to you,
in Rome" (Romans 1:14-15).

16 - Transcultural Missions.
What is culture? The first step in a study of culture is to master your own culture.
Everyone has a culture. No one can rise above their own culture or
from other cultures in order to have a truly supracultural perspective. For this
The study of culture is a difficult task.
The first thing a newly arrived visitor will notice is the "behavior of the people".
his beliefs, values, and education. God gave man a cultural commandment, which imposed
certain dominion over his environment. When God created man and his environment, He declared
that everything was 'very good' (Genesis 1:26-31). The evangelical commandment (Matthew 28:18-20)
requires the missionaries to teach other men to observe everything that Christ
ordered.
When teaching about Christ, missionaries affect culture, as all cultures need
of transformation. Therefore, as Calvin had already insisted, believers must work to
to make culture Christian (that is, to place it under Christ).
Within the concept of non-Christian life, customs and practices serve as trends.
idolaters and drive the person away from God. When the missionary arrives with the gospel, life
Christianity gathers these customs and practices and gives them an entirely different meaning. Still
that in the exterior form there is much that reminds of practices from the past, in fact, everything has been made
new. Essentially, the old has passed and the new has arrived.
Christ takes in His hands the life of a people, renews and reconstructs what was distorted and
deteriorated. He touches every detail, every word, and every practice, with a new meaning.
gives them a new direction.
For many, mistakenly, 'culture' refers to the behavior of the rich and the elite, however
for our purposes, we will define culture as the integrated system of standards of
learned behaviors, ideas, and ways of relating to the world. The missionary
must learn to live with these transcultural differences, not only in the way in which the
people eat, dress, speak, and act, and in their values and beliefs, but also in the
fundamental assumptions they make about their world, in order to try to win them for Christ.
The apostle Paul gave us the greatest transcultural example when he said: 'I became all things to all people'
everyone, in order to save some by any means
to win the Romans, one acted Greek, to win the Greeks, and so on.
Christianity does not aim to standardize the world nor destroy cultures, its
the message, however, is universal.
On the day of Christ and the Church's triumph, each people or ethnicity will present themselves praising God, in
your own language (Rev. 5:9) "And they sang a new song saying: You are worthy to take the book and
to open its seals, for you were slain and with your blood you purchased for God, men
of every tribe, and language, and people, and nation.
It is not necessary to destroy the culture of a people to lead them to the Christian faith, because Christianity is
transcultural.
Missionaries should respect the cultures of a people. Barnabas knew that the Jewish tradition
it was yet another way to maintain national identity, and that this would not imply anything in the
salvation of the new believers, therefore, it would not be necessary to observe the ritual of the Law of Moses.
"For what I play, one should not disturb those among the Gentiles who convert to"

It needs to be instructed to go cautiously and zealously, applying biblical doctrine.
Respect for the authorities of each country is essential. A clandestine missionary is exposed to
to suffer shame and bring shame to the name of the Church that sends him.
A missionary is clandestine in two ways:
Immigrating on one's own, chaotically and without the support of a church and a
ministry.
Being sent by a Church, but without the proper immigration documentation and without the
cross-cultural instructions.
Therefore, the missionary's home church needs to be careful not to compromise.

19 - The Challenge of Current Missionary Work.
I must do the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming,
when no one can work" (John 9:4).
Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (Luke 10:2).
In the word 'Rogai', the need for prayer is explicit; the work of evangelization is
urgent and compels us to pray. We must go to the feet of the Lord, in order to cry out for workers of
value.
No one can destroy the work built with fasting, tears, and prayer. In prayer we feel
what is God's will for this world. To set aside the commitment to prayer is
to abandon an incomparable treasure that God has placed at our disposal.
We should pray to receive the necessary empowerment from God in order to go out to the
mission field, and without this prior preparation, that is to say, those who leave from anywhere

The Church prayed and Peter was miraculously freed from prison (Acts 12:5-12). Only through the
prayer, the workers are supported in the ministerial and missionary 'fight'. The apostle Paul

It was God himself who established that the believer should contribute, so that his people may have the

missionary fields are vast, and there are almost always no friends to count on.
Let's see, the conviction of the Apostle Paul: "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to
"Apostle, separated for the Gospel of God" (Romans 1: 1).
If the missionary is sure that he is a servant, called and set apart, he will surely achieve his
the evangelistic objective and the name of the Lord will be glorified.
Let's see what Bishop Dr. Manoel Ferreira says about missionary preparation: among other things
needs, the need for more spirituality in the field weighs on the missionary.

He used to cooperate. In his Church, he relied on the fellowship of his ministry colleagues,
under the guidance of its president. It was a united and victorious team! But now the worker

Reflections and challenges for the Third Millennium.
A missionary is one who has been specifically called by God. In Acts 9:15 we see the
example of Paul when God said: "But the Lord said to him: Go, for this is to
mim, chosen vessel..." In addition to being called, it must undergo a preparation, that is, go through
an internship and being approved. The local church must have a training team, with the objective
to select, train, and empower candidates for missionary work, and set goals and
defined strategies. No one better than the local church to recognize and identify a
person called for missions.
A man sent to the field cannot be a novice, that is, without experience (ITm. 6.3).
When David appeared before Saul and proposed to fight the giant Goliath, he did not

17.32 - 37 therefore it is essential to call, and to prepare, before being sent a
missionary to the "battle" field.
The church that sends the missionary must be well-informed about the missionary work, what
your duties as a Church, and what privileges await it as a sender and promoter of
missions.
The Church is the first to appear on the mission scene, as it is within it that the emergence occurs.
missionary. It is the church that sends him.
"Send" means to place within the work or the communion, to assume and pay the price of
responsibility for shipping.
The Church is responsible for knowing the missionary it sends. It is its duty to know who he is,
to know your flaws and virtues, negative and positive aspects. When the missionary
commits mistakes in their field of work, they first blame the church that sent them and that
is behind him.
The Church is responsible for supporting the missionary it sends. It is necessary to support him.
financially. A man with a family at his expense, without a house, without food, without clothes,
without medicine, without money, without health, in short, without financial support, you will not succeed
to work.
The Church needs to support the missionary socially. The missionary sent by the Church is supported.
for your contributions, through the missions secretary, offerings, tithes, etc. It is of utmost
importance that the Church encourages believers to contribute to the missionary work. A
Church that sends and maintains missionaries is a Church that is constantly under the
blessing of God, and is being faithful to the reason of its work and existence. "Therefore go and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Mt. 28:19). A

If she loses her mission, she will lose the reason for her existence.
We have already talked about the responsibilities of the sending Church, now we will talk about
responsibility of the missionary who goes. For he goes representing the Church, and its
actions reflect her name. For this reason, he cannot do what he wants or what he thinks,
It has the name to safeguard, for every Church can be affected by the good or bad reputation of such a missionary.
The church can never send a worker to the field with experience of rebellion. The man of
God must be peaceful and peacemaking, respecting the Church that sent Him, as well as the
existing in the city or country where it was sent. We do what the Word says
God: "Not giving any scandals in anything, so that our Ministry is not
"censored" (2Co. 6. 3). He must be aware that his actions can exalt or denigrate the
Church of Christ, hence the need to prepare the worker before sending them to the field.
23 - When Persecution Comes.
I have told you this, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart.
Take heart, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
Among many things that a missionary has to worry about, he must not forget,
The alert that the Lord Jesus gives. Afflictions and persecutions always arise in the field of
shuffle.
Persecution is one of the weapons that Satan uses in the attempt to prevent the proclamation of the
Word of God. Jesus himself said that we are persecuted because we are not of this
world (John 15:18). Paul faced persecutions during his missionary journeys, even

About the false brothers, Paul said: 'In dangers from my nation, in dangers from the gentiles,'

mission. The question that lingers in the air is: 'Why did Jonah say no?' Jonah lacked three
fundamental qualities that a missionary needs to have.
Obedience - if Jonah had obeyed, he would not question God, he would simply obey.
Let's look at the case of another missionary, Abraham (Gen. 12:1), without even knowing where he was going,
he obeyed the voice of God, the missionary call.
Courage - According to tradition, the Ninivites, long ago, would have invaded the lands of the Jews,
plundered your belongings and killed your men, and on this list of losses were the brothers of
Jonas. It was not just an egocentric feeling, but rather fear and lack of courage.
They said no.
