BASIC CLASS RULES
1. Respect Everyone
• Treat classmates, the instructor, and yourself with respect in all interactions.

• Attend class on time and be prepared with the necessary materials.

• Be truthful in your work, avoiding plagiarism and cheating.
• If you need help, ask openly and honestly.
• Provide constructive feedback to peers and accept it gracefully.

• Participate actively in discussions and group work.
• Keep your phone and other distractions away during class.
• Maintain a professional and courteous tone in both in-person and online interactions.
5. Uphold Integrity
• Always follow academic guidelines and ethical standards.

• Use technology and resources responsibly for educational purposes.
6. Collaborate and Support Each Other

Disciplinary enforcement:
1. On turning your homework late.
a. For every day past the due date, there will be a penalization of 2.5 points deduction
until the value of the activity reaches 0.
2. On absences.
a. If you are absent for any reason, you must follow proper procedures and take your
documentation (Prescriptions or medical records) to the “Humanidades” office so
they can be validated. After that, the head of the department will be notified and e-
mail the information to the corresponding teachers, so they validate your attendance
and activities.
3. On the Use of AI
a. Academic Integrity:
i. The use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly) is permitted only for
specific assignments or purposes as authorized by the instructor.
ii. Any work submitted that relies on AI tools must clearly acknowledge their
use. Failure to disclose AI assistance will be treated as a breach of
academic integrity and may result in penalties.
b. Guidelines for AI Use:
i. AI may be used to enhance learning, such as drafting outlines, checking
grammar, or exploring ideas, but it cannot replace original thought or
effort.
c. Consequences of Misuse:
i. Submitting AI-generated content as your own work without proper
disclosure will result in a zero for the assignment.
4. On Classroom Behavior and activities
a. Respectful Conduct:
i. Disruptive behavior, such as excessive talking, using phones without
permission, or engaging in activities unrelated to class, will result in a
warning.
ii. A second offense will lead to a deduction of participation points, and
further disruptions may result in removal from the class session.
b. Collaborative Work:
i. In group projects, all members are expected to contribute equitably. Any
student found neglecting their responsibilities or causing conflicts may face
grade adjustments based on their contribution.
5. On Plagiarism
a. Definition: Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else’s work, ideas, or
expressions as your own without proper acknowledgment. This includes copying
from peers, books, online resources, or AI-generated content.
b. Consequences:
c. First Offense: A zero on the assignment and a written warning.
d. Second Offense: A meeting with the department head and a grade deduction for the
course.
