1. The sum of ages of mother and sister is s years. The ratio of their ages before t years
was r:p. After x years, what will be the ratio of their ages?
Solution :
Let,
Mother’s present age = a
Daughter’s present age = b
ATQ,
a+b=s--------(1)
𝑎−𝑡 𝑟
= ---------(2)
𝑏−𝑡 𝑡

Now from the equation(2)

𝑟−𝑡 𝑏−𝑡 𝑎+𝑏−2𝑡 𝑠−2𝑡
= = = 𝑟+𝑝
𝑟 𝑝 𝑟+𝑝

(𝑠−2𝑡)𝑟
Then a-t = 𝑟+𝑝

(𝑠−2𝑡)𝑟
⇒a= +t
𝑟+𝑝

(𝑠−2𝑡)𝑝
And b-t = 𝑟+𝑝

(𝑠−2𝑡)𝑝
⇒b= +t
𝑟+𝑝

After x years ratio of mother and daughter´s is

𝑎+𝑥
=𝑏+𝑥
(𝑠−2𝑡)𝑟 (𝑠−2𝑡)𝑃
= + 𝑡 + 𝑥⁄ +𝑡+𝑥
𝑟+𝑝 𝑟+𝑝

(𝑠−2𝑡)𝑟 (𝑠−2𝑡)𝑝
After x years ratio of mother:daughter={ + 𝑡 + 𝑥}:{ + 𝑡 + 𝑟}
𝑟+𝑝 𝑟+𝑝
2. The ratio of present ages of father and son 7 : 2 and after 5 years, the ratio will be 8:3.
What are their present ages?

Solution :
Let,
The present ages of father & son a, b.

ATQ,
a/b = 7/2 ----- (1)
a + 5/b + 5 = 8/3 ----- (2)
From equation (1) we get,
a = 7b/2 ----- (3)
From equation (2) we get,
3(a + 5) = 8(b + 5)
Or, 3a + 15 = 8b + 40
Or, 3a – 8b = 40 – 15
Or, 3 × 7b/2 – 8b = 25
Or, 21b – 16b/2 = 25
Or, 5b = 50
b = 10
In equation (3) by putting b = 10, we get
a = 7×10/2 = 35
The present age of father is 35 years and that of son is 10 years.

Or, x/y = (2× 5 × 12 × 100) / ( 3 × 15 × 100)
>> x : y = 8 : 3
5. The average age of students of class in 15.8 years. The average age of boys in the class is
16.4 years and that of the girls is 15.4 years. Find the ratio of number of boys to the
number of girls in the class.
Let,
The number of boys be x
The number of girls be y
According to question :
16.4x + 15.4y = 15.8x +15.8y
Or, 16.4x – 15.8x = 15.8y – 15.4y
Or, 0.6x = 0.4y
Or, x/y = 0.4/0.6
>> x : y = 2 : 3

6. The ratio of the salary of A, B & C is 7:5:3 if B gets tk 222 more than what C gets, then
what is the salary of A?
Let,
the salary of A, B and C are 7x, 5x and 3x respectively
According to question,
5x – 3x = 222
Or, 2x = 222
Or, x= 222/22
>> x = 111
The salary of A = 7x = 7×111 = 777 tk
The wife annually save = 3y – y = 2y
Their annual balance is tk 4000
7. The ratio between the length and the breadth of a rectangular park is 3 : 2. If a man
cycling along the boundary of the park at the speed of 12 km/hr completes one round in 8
minutes, then what is the area of the park ( in sq m)?
Given that,
length : breadth = 3 : 2
Let,
the length be 3x and the breadth be 2x
Area = 3x × 2x = 6x^2
And the perimeter = 2 ( 3x+2x) = 10x
Now,
In 60 minutes the man
covers 12km = 12000 m
In 8 minutes the man
covers = (12000 × 8) / 60 = 1600 m
We get, 10x = 1600
Or, x = 1600/ 10 = 160
So, Area = 6 × ( 160)^2 = 153600 sq.m.

Cyclic ratios aim to stabilize uneven initial distributions by equating transitional adjustments to ensure final equality. Take a bicycle problem where unequal park rations (3:2) involve speed and perimeter adjustments to meet a cyclic unity via distance traversed, guiding area calculations to attain equal balance across widths or lengths through consistent cycle timing constraints, resolving with unified dimensional outputs .

To distribute a total sum among four individuals a, b, c, and d, given ratios such as a:b = 2:3, b:c = 1:2, and c:d = 3:2, consolidate these into a single ratio for a:b:c:d as 2:3:6:4. The sum for calculation is based on their combined parts, e.g., for a distribution of Tk. 300, determine each's share by finding the fraction each contributes to the total sum (15 parts) and multiplying by 300 .

Determining an individual's salary within a structured scheme involves using known differences and ratios. If salaries for A, B, and C adapt based on a specific ratio (7:5:3) and given values like B earning Tk. 222 more than C, establish equation linkage: difference (5x-3x=222) gives x=111, then calculate A's salary as 7x, equivalating to 777 Tk, through substitution and multiplication under aligned ratios .

Resolving a weighted price loss problem, such as cutting a diamond valued proportionally to its square weight, involves calculating the new prices after division. Given a diamond weight split 5:2, calculate each piece's value based on their squared weights. Compare the sum of these new values against the original single piece value to determine the incurred loss, using weighted values for proportionally accurate calculations .

In mixtures, the composition ratio can drastically change by adding or removing components. For instance, in a mixture of milk and water with an original ratio of 2:1 (40 liters milk, 20 liters water in 60 liters total), to transform this into a 1:2 ratio, additional water must be added. Solving 40:(20+x) = 1:2 provides that x (additional water) must be 60 liters for the new ratio to reflect the desired change .

The ratio of the perimeters of a circle and a square with equal areas depends on the side length of the square (a) being equated with the radius of the circle (r) such that πr^2 = a^2. Solving for r gives r = a/√π. The perimeter of the circle (2πr) is then compared to the perimeter of the square (4a), resulting in a ratio of 2√π : 2 .

To convert currency-denominated values into specific item counts when ratios are defined, calculate each item's representation in parts of the total sum. For example, if the ratios 2:3:4 correspond to currency coins, determine each ratio's share against a total sum (e.g., Tk. 280). Then calculate each item's count directly using its ratio share over the total ratio (e.g., x = 10 gives 4x = 40 for Tk. 5 coins).

Maintaining proportionality when combining two systems with known ratios requires equating the shared components through each system's contribution. For instance, if Alloy A and B are comprised of elements in ratios 5:3 and 1:2 respectively, and form a new alloy, mixing them in a specific ratio like 4:3, one finds the contribution each component makes (using fractional parts of both alloys) to establish final ratio composition in the new alloy .

When a product is bought and then sold at a 28% loss, it implies that if the purchase price was 100 units, the selling price would be 72 units (100 - 28 = 72). This translates to a ratio of the selling price to the purchase price of 72:100, which simplifies to 18:25 .

To determine the present ages of a mother and her daughter, given their age sum (s years) and a historical age ratio (r:p) before t years, we can use algebraic equations. Let the current age of the mother be a and the daughter be b. The age sum gives us the equation a + b = s. The historical ratio gives us another: (a-t)/(b-t) = r/p. Solving these equations simultaneously with substitutions, where a = ((s-2t)r/(r+p)) + t and b = ((s-2t)p/(r+p)) + t, allows us to find their present ages. After x years, the ratio of their ages will be ((s-2t)r/(r+p)+t+x) : ((s-2t)p/(r+p)+t+x).
