Definitions

1. Mean: The sum of all values divided by the number of values.

2. Median: The middle value when the data is arranged in order.

3. Mode: The value that appears most frequently in a dataset.

Formulas

Mean = Sum of all observations / Number of observations

Median (odd n) = Middle value

Median (even n) = Average of two middle values

Mode = Value that occurs most often

Examples

Given Data: 4, 8, 6, 5, 3, 4, 4

Mean = 34 / 7 = 4.86

Median = 4 (Middle value of ordered data)

Mode = 4 (Most frequent value)

Types of Data

1. Qualitative (Categorical): Nominal, Ordinal

2. Quantitative (Numerical): Discrete, Continuous

Real-Life Examples

Mean: Average marks in exams

Median: Middle income or salary

Mode: Most sold product in a store
