Movie Script

READ carefully all the information below.

The scenes are not filmed the same way. Within the same scene,
we notice that the camera pulls away or gets closer, conveying a neutrality,
accelerating the movement, etc. These choices and movements are guided by
the sensitivity of the director, who can choose perspectives, an overview or a
detail. Since there are various points of view, there are, therefore, various plans. The
the main ones are:

READ the characteristics of the following movie script and RESPOND right after.

EXT. ALMEIDINHA'S HOUSE


We open with the image of a machete being sharpened.

CHARACTERS in superposition: 1981

One can hear the murmur of cheerful voices, voices singing a samba accompanied by a beat.
We don't see the people. But the sounds make it clear that it's a festive environment.

The samba lyrics have as their theme: food.

Black hands tie a string around a rooster's leg. The rooster is imposing and showy.
We alternated the rooster – bothered by having its leg tied – the images that suggest the

preparation of a lunch: Boiling water in a huge pot. The rooster seems to react to the image
previous. Sweet potatoes being peeled by the hands of a Black woman. The rooster reacts as if

understand the situation: it will become food. Dead chickens being plucked by hands of
black women. The rooster reacts. It tries to free the leg tied to the string. Male hand
a black woman strikes the skin of a tambourine. The lyrics of the samba make explicit reference to the theme of food.

The rooster seems to understand that its end is near. A machete being sharpened by black hands.
