1.0 INTRODUCTION

CYPECAD is a program for verification and dimensioning, as well as design,

reinforced concrete structures. Developed by the Spanish company Cype, it is a
quite efficient software for the calculation of reinforced concrete structures.

CYPECAD has several calculation modules: the user can create everything from a foundation
isolated to a complete building.

One of the strengths of the program is the tool that automatically generates the
drawings of the entire project – both the layout and the framing.

In order to follow a more didactic approach, this booklet will present the software one by one
of its main isolated modules. After the knowledge in tools is established
basic, the structural calculation of a complete building will be presented.

2.0 SOFTWARE OVERVIEW

This guide will work with version 2011, in this, when the user opens the program it is

3.4 CALCULATING THE FOUNDATION

After all the project input data has been entered into the program, one can now
calculate the foundation. There are two calculation options:

Verification: in this, CYPECAD evaluates the choices (geometry, reinforcement, etc.) of the

designer in order to determine if they meet the regulatory conditions

for the requesting loads. Click on 'General data/Verify' .

Sizing: in this option the program will size, choose the best

parameters for the foundation project. Click on 'General data/Dimension'

In both options, after performing the calculations, the program displays the memory of
project calculation, with the verifications that were carried out.
3.5 PRINTING THE PROJECT DRAWINGS

CYPECAD is quite efficient and complete regarding automatic generation of

project drawings.

Click on to add the previously created file in CAD software. The file
must be in the format 'dwg' or 'dxf' for CYPECAD to be able to perform the import.

About the CAD file, some observations are important;

If you want to insert the column in CYPE, at the center of its representation, make sure
that in the imported file the representation of the pillar has a reference (line,
axis system, circle, etc.) so that CYPE can capture this reference.

After importing the plan with the location of the columns, follow all the steps that were
described in item 5.1 for the development of the model, application of loads, verification of the
results, etc.

The only caveat is regarding the launch of the pillars, which will be shown in item 5.2.1.

5.2.1 Launch of the pillars

After following all the steps in item 5.1 and with the pillar plan already imported
