SANITATION
(1) Every employer shall provide
sanitary facilities at the
workplace in accordance with
National Building Regulations
(2) An employer may where less
than 11 persons are employed
make written arrangements for
use of closets and washbasins on
adjoining premises,
Provided that these are
(a) freely and readily accessible;
(b) comply with Regs and
SABS 0400
SANITATION
Employer shall at every sanitary
facility:
(a) make toilet paper available
(b) provide a seat on every
water closet designed to
have one
(c) supply a towel to every
employee for his sole use
or
disposable paper towels
or hot air blowers, or
portions of continuous
cloth towels
(d) provide toilet soap or
similar cleaning agent
SANITATION
Every employer shall:
In respect of each room in which
there are closets, urinals,
showers or wash basins
(a) provide a conspicuous sign
indicating sex of users
(b) ventilate such rooms in
accordance with Part O of the
NB Regs.
(c) provide screen walls,
partitions or doors for
privacy
(d) ensure water not obtained
from local authority,
complies with SABS 241.
CHANGE ROOMS
The employer shall in respect of
employees:
(a) for whom showers are prescribed, or
(b)who need to undress
provide separate rooms for males and
females in accordance with Part C of
SABS 0400
The employer shall ensure that:
a change-room is not connected directly
to a room in which a high-risk substance
is used or processed or animal products
are treated e.g. skins and hides
CHANGE ROOMS
(b)provide adequate seating in every
change-room
(c) not store material, tools or other goods
in such change room
(d)provide windows glazed with obscure
glass or similar material
(e) screen the entrance of every change-
room to afford privacy
CHANGE ROOMS
(f) provide a conspicuous sign
indicating sex of users
(g) provide facilities for drying of
wet clothes if it may become wet
e.g. chemical plants
(h) ensure natural or artificial
ventilation in accordance
with Part O of SABS 0400
(i) ensure that no employee changes
at any other place
SEATS
Every employer shall:
(a) where reasonably practicable provide
a seat for every employee whose work can
be effectively performed while sitting
(b)where reasonably practicable permit
an employee who normally works
standing to sit whenever possible and
provide seating
(c) provide seats with back rests where
the nature of the work is such that these
seats can be used.
CONDITION OF
ROOMS AND FACILITIES
Every employer shall maintain all rooms
and facilities in:
9 a clean,
9 hygienic,
9 safe,
9 whole and
9 leak-free condition,
9 and in a good state of repair.
