volume of air contained in the model that Rachel made. (Assume the outer and inner
dimensions of the model to be nearly the same.)

33. A gulab jamun, contains sugar syrup up to about 30% of its
volume. Find approximately how much syrup would be found in 45
gulab jamuns,each shaped like a cylinder with two
hemispherical ends with length 5 cm and diameter 2.8 cm.
34. From a solid cylinder whose height is 2.4 cm and diameter 1.4 cm, a conical
cavity of the same height and same diameter is hollowed out. Find the total surface
area of the remaining solid to the nearest cm2
35. A brooch is made with silver wire in the form of a
circle with diameter 42 mm. The wire is also used in
making 5 diameters which divide the circle into
10 equal sectors as shown in figure. Find:
(i) the total length of the silver wire required.
(ii) the area of each sector of the brooch.

36. A circular region is inscribed in a triangular boundary as shown in figure. Each
boundary of triangular part is act as tangent to the circle, where O is centre of circle
and OD⊥BC.
Answer the questions based on above
What will be the radius of the circle, if BD=24 cm and OB =
25cm ?
(ii) Determine CD, if OC = 26 cm.
(iii) As AB and AC act as tangents to the circle at E and F and AE=8 cm, then what is
the perimeter of ∆ ABC.

37. The circumference of a circle is the product of the constant π and diameter of a
circle. The circumference is the length of complete arc of the circle.
Circumference of circle = πd.
A man starts running from point A and reaches the same point after completing one
complete round of a circle. The distance covered by him is the circumference of a
circle. The region inside the boundary is area of circle.
Answer the questions based on above information.
(i) The circumference of two circles are in the ratio 1: 4, then find
ratio of their areas.
(ii) Find the ratio of the area of incircle and circumcircle of a
square.
(iii) The perimeter of a semicircular protractor is 66 cm. Find radius of the protractor.

Find the area of quadrant of a circle whose circumference is 44 cm.
38. A circus is a company of performers who put on shows of acrobats, clowns etc. to
entertain people started around 250 years back, in open fields, now generally
performed in tents.
One such 'Circus Tent' is shown below.
The tent is in the shape of a cylinder surmounted
by a conical top. If the height and diameter of cylindrical
part are 9 m and 30 m respectively and height of conical
part is 8 m with same diameter as that of the cylindrical part,
then find (i) the area of the canvas used in making the tent.
(ii) slant height of conical part.
(iii) the cost of the canvas bought for the tent at the rate ₹200 per sq m, if 30 sq m
canvas was wasted during stitching.
