• A calendar is a chart or series of pages showing the days, weeks, and months

of a particular year, or giving particular seasonal information. Calendar, in the

present context, refers to the Gregorian calendar, because it is the one used

most frequently, worldwide.

• According to the Gregorian calendar, on 01-01-01, it was Monday.

• A calendar may be ordinary (non-leap) or leap.

Ordinary year

• An ordinary year has 365 days or 52 weeks + 1 day.

• Now, 365 days = 52 x 7 = 364 days + 1 extra day

• An ordinary year starts and ends on the same day.

• A leap year has 366 days or 52 weeks and 2 days.

• Now, 365 days = 52 x 7 = 364 days + 2 extra days

• One more extra day as compared to an ordinary year is due to 29th of February.
