COC 2 SET UP COMPUTER NETWORKS

1. CABLE SPLICING (STRAIGHT THRU CABLES, MODULAR BOX AND PATCH PANEL)
2. NETWORK SHARING

• Right click the network logo the click “Open network and internet setting”
• Click “Network and advance sharing center”
• Click “Advance sharing setting”
• Turn on everything fron Private, Guest or Public and All Networks except for the
password
• Then click Save Changes or Ok below.
3. Configure services

• Click Windows+R and type “services. msc”

• look for FUNCTION DISCOVERY RESOURCE PUBLICATION then right click select from
manual to automatic then click start, apply and ok
• look for SSDP then right click select from manual to automatic then click start, apply
and ok
• look for UPNP DEVICE HOST then right click select from manual to automatic then
click start, apply and ok
4. Configuring firewall

• Right click the network logo the click “Open network and internet setting
 • Click “Windows Firewall”
• click “Allow and app to communicate or Allow app Thruough firewall”
• Check the 3 boxes beside;
o file & printer sharing
o network discovery
o remote desktop
o windows remote management
o windows firewall remote management
o netlog on service
• then turn off the windows firewall
5. Configure router

• Press the reset button at the back of the router 10-15 seconds until the indicator
lights blink
• click Windows+R then type “cmd” the input “ipconfig” to know the default gateway
or ip address of the router
• go to your web browser the input in the search box the defualt gateway or the ip
address of the router
• Create password then confirm password
• Set time zone to (UTC +08:00)
• Click next
• Change SSID and Password
• click next then next
• click advance the security and turn on the access control
6. Set static ip address

• Right click the network logo the click “Open network and internet setting”
• Select “Change adapter option or Change Adapter setting”
• Right click Ethernet (wired computer) or WIFI (wireless computer/Laptop)
• Select “Properties”
• cliick the Internet Protocol Verssion 4 (IPV4) the click properties
• Click the “Use the Following IP Address” bullet then enter the ip address.
NOTE: THE IP ADDRESS OF THE SERVER IS ALSO THE PREFERD DNS OF THE TWO CLIENT, AND
ALL OF THE COMPUTER MUST HAVE THE SAME DEFAULT GATEWAY

• After inputting the ip address close all the boxes then right click again the Ethernet
or Wifi and disable it the enable it again to refresh the ip address that you input.
7. Ping

• Go to Command Promt or Windows+R the type cmd

• Type “ping” then the ip address of the computer that you want to contact
8. File sharing
 • Create a folder in the desktop
• Right click the created folder then the click properties
• Select Sharing
• click share
• Expand the arrow down then click everyone then click add
• the click click the permission level of everyone then select read and write then click
share
• then select advance sharing and check the share this folder box and click the
permision the and then check the box of FULLL control
• click apply then ok
• click apply then ok
• apply then close

COC 3 SET UP COMPUTER SERVER

1. Setting up server manager

• Go to server manager and click for “add roles” at the dashboard

• Add the following role then click add features
o ADDS
o DHCP
o DNS
o Print & documents Sercvices
o web server (IIS)
• then click next the in features click the “Windows Server Back up”
• click next the in Confirmation box check the restart destination
• then restart the computer.
2. Configuring ADDS

• Click the flag with notification at the upper right part of the screen
• click “Promote this server to domain controler
• click add a new forest
• in Root Domain Name, input the domain name that you desire ex. [Link]
• click next
• then create a password in the directory service restore mode
• then click next until you see the close button the restart the computer

2. Configure DHCP

• Select flagicon/notification
• Click on “complete DHCP configuration)
 • click next
• In the Authorization click commit
• In the Summary click close
3. Configure DHCP SERVER

• Click Server manager

• Click DHCP at the left side of the Screen
• Click the First option in the box then right click
• Select DHCP Manager
• Click the arrow beside the name of the server
• Expand the arrow of the IPV4 select new Scope
• Enter the Scope name Ex. del rosario scope
• click next
• Enter in the Range Setting foe DHCP
ex.
Start IP Address – [Link]
End IP Address – [Link]
• Click next until Configure DHCP Option then click the bullet “Yes, I want to configure
these option now
• click next
• Then in “Router (Default Gateway) input the ip address of the router or the default
gateway
• then click add
• click next until “Activate Scope” click “Yes, I want to Activate this Scope now
• click next
• Finish

4. Configure Active directory users and computers

• Go to server manager
• in the upper right side of the computer select tools
• click “Active Directory Users and computer”
• expand the arrow beside the domain name
• Right click the domain name
• select “New” and select “Organizational Unit”
• under the “New Object-Organizational unit unchexk the box “Protected container
from accidental deletion”
• then input the name of the organizational unit;
o ex. GTICSS2024
• Click Ok
5. Create 2 users account; after making the organizational unit in the same tab.
 • select the “Users”
• Click the “Administrator” in the second box/tab then right click and chose
copy
• then input the information needed for your USER
o ex. first name: user
last name: 1
User logon name: user1
• click next button
• create password
• check “User cannot change password” and “Password never expires”
• click next
• finish
• DO THE SAME PROCEDURE FOR THE 2ND USER ACCOUNT
• After creating the two user account drag it to the organizational unit that you
created earlier
• click yes
6. Folder Redirection

• Create a folder in drive:D, name the folder “REDIRECTIO”

• share the created folder
• click advance sharing
• click “share this folder”
• click “permission”
• Remove “everyone”
• click “add”
• type “au” and select “authenticated Users”
• click ok
• under “allow” Check the full control then click apply and ok
• apply and ok
• copy the “Network path” or Root path”
7. Create Group Policy Management

• Go to server manager and select tools at the upper right of the screen then select
“Group Policy Management
• expand down the “Forest:____” then expand the “Domain”
• expand dow the domain name
• right click the Organizational unit the you created
• select “Create a GPO in this domain”
• in the New GPO” input the name of the GPO
o ex. For Redirection
• click ok
8. redirecting folder
 • expand the Organizational unit the right click the GPO name that you created and
select “Edit”
• under “user confiuration” expand “Policies”
• expand “windows setting”
• expand”Folder redirection
• right click desktop and select properties
• in the desktop properties box under the target tab expand down the arrow beside
the “not configured” and select “Basic-redirect everyones folder to this same
location”
• in the root pathe Paste the copied network path in the shared folder that you
created earlier
• apply and ok
• SAME PROCESS FOR THE DOCUMENTS
AFTER CONFIGURING GPO YOU SHOULD UPDATE IT GO TO COMMAND PROMT AND TYPE
gpupdate /force THEN CLICK Y

9. Joining Client computer to the domain

• in the computer client click “This PC” the select properties and scroll down and select
“Rename this pc (advance)”
• in the system properties click change
• click the bullet beside the “Domain” and enter the domain that you created
o ex. [Link]
• click ok
• the input “Administrator” in the username and input your password
• click ok
• then close then restart now
• After the computer restart click the “other user”
• input in the “user name” the user that you created earlier
o ex. user1
• input the password
• clik enter.

10. Printer deployment

• on the server manager click “tools” and select “print management”

• expand print servers
• click” printers”
• right click the name of the printers and select “Deploy sith Group Policy”
• click “Default Domain Policy”
• then click the two b oxes below “Deploy this printer connection to the following”
 • click add
• click apply & ok
• go to comand promt (cmd) and type gpupdate /force and click Y. do this also in the
two client computer.
• in the two client computer search for printers and scanners you shoul see the
deployed printers
11. Remote Desktop Connection

• in the computer server go to server manager and click on local server

• in the local server look for “Remote Desktop” and click the disable or enable
• in the system properties click the bullet “Allow Remote Connection to this
Computer”
• Apply & Ok
• in the client computer
• click “This PC” and select properties
• Scroll down & select “Rename this PC (advance)”
• in the system properties select “Remote” in the tab
• then click “Allow remote connection to this computer”
• apply & ok
12. Connecting Remote Desktop

• Click Windowa key and search for” Remote Deskop Connectio”

• type the IP Address or the complete computer name of the computer that you want
to connect & click connect
• then type the administrator password in the box that will appear
• click yes
• in the computer that you want to connect click “yes” to confirm connection

COC 4 Maintain and Repaire Computer Systems and Networks

• go to server Manager click tools at the upper right of the screen

• select “Windows Server Backup”
• click local backup
• click “backup once” at the upper right of the screen
• in the backup option click next
• click next
• local drives click next
• backup destination select drive:D and click next
• click backup.
