4 | MALABRIGO KAL BARNSTABLE SHAWL

The Barnstable Shawl is a celebratory piece. Designed by Lisa
Hannes for Malabrigo's 10th anniversary, it comes back with the
modern twist of Seis Cabos for our 20 year celebration! A truly
timeless design that we treasure. Lisa has answered a few of our
questions about this design and her process:

What is the best part about a knit-along?

The camaraderie and sharing each other’s projects and experiences.

What should knitters pay attention to when working this pattern? Do

you have any tips or tricks that will make knitting this pattern easier?

Pay close attention to the slipped stitches during the mosaic part. Be sure
to always slip the stitches with yarn in BACK of work on RS rows and with
yarn in FRONT on WS rows.

What was the design process for this shawl?

I created the Barnstable design originally as a commissioned piece

for Malabrigo’s Aniversario collection book. The yarn I used was also
introduced at the same time as the collection, so I aimed for a design that
would showcase both the new yarn as well as the new Aniversario colour
equally well. So, there is a part that is worked in the new yarn in a solid
neutral colour only to showcase the yarn and a part that is worked in the
new colourway only to highlight the colour. And then the mosaic part
brings all of it together.
