Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preparation
Good morning, class!
Good morning, teacher!
May I request everyone to please stand up for our
opening prayer? Unis, please lead the prayer.
In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the
holy spirit…. Amen.
Thank you, Unis. For leading our prayer. You may
now take your seats.
Thank you, teacher!
Who is absent today?
None, teacher!
Very good! I am glad that all of you are present today.

Before we start, do you still remember our topic

yesterday? If yes, what is it?
(Lei raised her hand)
Yes, Lei?
Teacher, our topic yesterday was adding whole
numbers without regrouping.
Very good, Lei! Yes our topic yesterday was adding
whole numbers without regrouping. Now, who wants
to share what is adding whole numbers without
regrouping?
Teacher! (Laarnie raised her hand)
Yes, Laarnie?
Adding whole numbers without regrouping is the
process of combining numbers where the sum of the
digits in each place value column is 9 or lee, so no
carrying is needed, teacher.
Yes, it is correct! Good memory, Laarnie. Class,
do we need to recall more or let us just proceed to
our new topic?
Let’s proceed, teacher!
We will have an activity first, the title is “just multiply
me!” I will group you into 3 groups, and each group
need 1 representative that will write their answer on
the board. You need to wait for my signal before
answering, okay?
Okay, teacher!

1.) 2+2+2+2+2=
2.) 3+3+3+3+3+3=
3.) 7+7+7=
4.) 9+9=
5.) 10+10+10=

You can start answering now!

After 2 minutes…..

Very good, class! I am glad that you all are able to

solve the problems I gave you. So, what did you
notice to our activity?
(Yela raised her hand)
Yes, Yela?
Teacher! I noticed that it is all adding numbers.
Very good! It is an adding numbers.

Yesterday, we discussed how to solve adding whole

numbers. Today we will discuss multiplying whole
numbers. Are you reading, class!
Yes, teacher!
B. Presentation
We will now learn how to multiply whole numbers
without regrouping, okay?
Okay, teacher!
C. Comparison and Abstraction
Did you know that there is a fast way to add the same
numbers multiple time?
Not sure, teacher!
Okay, class! It’s called multiplication. Since we are
repeating the same numbers, multiplication is also
called repeated addition. Understood?
Yes, teacher!
Can you give me a repeated numbers that being
add?
(Yukki raised his hand)
Yes, Yukki?
5+5+5+5+5+5+5, teacher!
Now, let’s make an example using that. Let’s say you
have 7 friends with 5 lollipops each and you want to
know how many they have in total if you have all their
lollipops. So, instead of adding 5+5+5+5+5+5+5
what can we use to get the answer faster?
Multiplication, teacher!
Very good! We can use multiplication to find the
answer quickly. Like this 7x5, and it is equal to?
35 teacher!
Correct! 7x5 is equal to 35.
Do you know what we call when we multiply two or
more numbers and the answer is called?
We don’t know, teacher!
It’s okay. It is called the product. For example
7x5=35, what is the product?
35 is the product teacher!
Very good! 35 is the product of 7x5.
Now, do you know the purpose of multiplication?
(Gab raised his hand)
Yes, Gab?
I think the purpose of multiplication is to help us find
the total number of items quickly, teacher!
Correct! Very good, Gab.
Who wants to give an example based on your
experience that you have used multiplication?
Me, teacher! (Gian raised his hand)
Yes, Gian?
When I want to buy 3 pieces of candy and the prize is
5 pesos each, to count the money that I needed I used
multiplication to get the total faster.
How did you got the total?
I multiply 3x7 and the product is 21.
Very good, Gian!
I have here a copy of multiplication table. I will give
each of you a copy so that you can review it in your
home. Is it okay, class?
Yes, teacher!

D. Generalization
Class, did you learn from our discussion today?
Yes, teacher!
What is it?
(Rin raised her hand)
Yes, Rin?
Teacher, I learned that we can just multiply a
repeating addition to solve a problem, because it is
quicker to find answer than the addition. y
Very good, Rin! Who else?
(Sachi raised her hand)
Yes, Sachi?
I learned that when we multiply two or more numbers,
Very good, Sachi! the answer is called the product.

What is it, Jay? Teacher! (Jay-Jay raised her hand)

Teacher, I learned that multiplication is also called as

repeated addition.
Correct! It is also called as repeated addition. I
noticed that all of you listened well.

E. Application
I will divide the class into 5 groups, and you are going
to write repeated addition questions, and you will
also have to answer it. The group with a lot of
questions and correct answer are the winner. I will
give prizes so write as much as you can. Are you
ready?
Yes, teacher!
Five minutes to solve…

F. Evaluation
In ¼ sheet of paper. Copy and answer the questions below.
Direction: write :> (smile) if the statement is true and :< (sad) if the statement is false.
1. Multiplication is the quicker way to add the same numbers multiple times.
2. If you multiply 10 to 5 the product is 40.
3. 5x7 = 35
4. when we multiply two or more numbers the answer is called sum. 5. Multiplication helps us
to find the total number of item not quickly.

G. Assignment
Write on your notebook, and answer in your home.
- Research the meaning of division and find its purpose.
