7-A-SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

1. TEAM COMPOSITION

• Each team consists of 7 players on the field, including 1 goalkeeper.

• A minimum of 4 players (including the goalkeeper) is required to start or continue a


match, if a team cannot field 4 players, the match will be awarded as a 3–0 walkover to
the opposition.

2. PLAYER KIT & EQUIPMENT

• Outfield players must wear matching jerseys. Goalkeepers must wear a distinct color.

• Bibs will be provided in case of a clash of colors.

• Permitted Footwear: Astro Turf trainers.

• Not Allowed: Metal studs, screw-in studs & plastic studs STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

3. POINTS SYSTEM

• Win: 3 points

• Draw: 1 point

• Loss: 0 points

• Walkover: 3 points to the opposition, score recorded as 3–0.

4. TOURNAMENT FORMAT

• The tournament consists of 2 groups, each with 4 teams.


5. MATCH DURATION

• Each match: 15 minutes full game, with no halftime break.

6. SUBSTITUTIONS

• Unlimited rolling substitutions allowed.

• Must be made with referee’s approval and only when play is stopped.

• Substitutes enter and leave from the nearest touchline not necessarily half way line to
avoid time wasting.

7. PLAYING RULES

• Kick-Off: A goal can be scored directly from the kick-off.

• Offside: NO OFFSIDES in 7-a-side football.

• Throw-ins: Normal throw ins from the place the ball has gone out. Player must throw
according to FIFA laws to avoid Foul throws.

• Back-pass Rule: Does NOT apply, but the goalkeeper must release the ball within 6
seconds.

• NO SLIDING TACKLES AT ALL.

• Goalkeeper Distribution: Must distribute from within penalty area.

8. FREE KICKS & PENALTIES

• All free kicks: Direct or Indirect, as per referee’s decision.

• Defending players must stand 6 yards from the ball.

• Fouls inside the penalty area → Penalty Kick.

• Penalty spot: 8 yards from goal line.


9. DISCIPLINE & FAIR PLAY

• Verbal Warning → Yellow Card → Red Card.

• Two Yellows in a match = Red Card (player out for remainder of the game).

• Straight Red Card = 2 - match suspension.

• Abusive language, violent conduct, or disrespect to officials will result in immediate


dismissal – Straight Red Card.

• Referee’s decision is FINAL and NON-NEGOTIABLE.

10. GROUP STAGE TIE-BREAKERS

If teams are level on points:

1. Goal Difference

2. Goals Scored

3. Head-to-Head Result

4. Fair Play Record

5. Penalty Shootout (if required)

11. SAFETY & CONDUCT

• No aggressive play, dangerous tackles, or time-wasting.

• Respect referees, opponents, and officials at all times.

• Tournament organizers reserve the right to disqualify any team for misconduct.
