Animal tissues are generally classified into four main types:

1. Epithelial tissue: Covers body surfaces and lines hollow organs, body cavities, and ducts.
Functions include protection, absorption, secretion, and filtration.

2. Connective tissue: Supports, connects, and separates different types of tissues. Includes
cartilage, bone, blood, adipose tissue, and others.

3. Muscle tissue: Responsible for body movement. Includes skeletal, smooth, and cardiac
muscle.

4. Nervous tissue: Conducts electrical signals throughout the body. Includes neurons and
neuroglia.

Explanation:

A. The thick segment of the Loop of Henle (ascending limb) is lined with cuboidal epithelium.
B. The thin segment (descending limb) is lined with simple squamous epithelium.

Thus, thick Loop of Henle has cuboidal epithelium.

141) Concept :
Epithelium/Epithelial Tissue

Solution/Explanation :
A tissue which grows upon another tissue is called Epithelium. It always rest upon underlying
connecting tissue. Epithelium is the only tissue in which cells are always arranged in uniform
layer. Epithelium cells are compactly packed with little intercellular matrix.
Due to absence of intercellular spaces blood vessels, lymph vessels & capillaries are unable to
piece this tissue so blood circulation is absent in epithelium. Hence cells depend for their
nutrients on underlying connective tissue.
