In GP term 4, i have learned many things, for example i learned that working together can
answer big questions and find out the answer with my group members. Working together
gives us the opportunity to socialize with them, interact with them, and work together to solve
complex and easy questions. This project wouldn’t be possible without research. Before we
started the project, I didn’t know how much people have the problem of not knowing how to
do body positivity. After knowing the amount of people, me and my groupmates decided to
make a website dedicated to body positivity, promoting mental health, and fashion in the
process. We were able to make this because of our group members, everyone had different
ideas which made us even more confused. But in the end we realized that it’s good that
everyone had different ideas, so that we can improvise and find a way to make things work.
Like for example, me and Elin wanted to do fashion, while Ken and Chelsea wanted to do
mental health, so we thought, why not both? We can help both people who struggle with
fashion and mental health this way, eventually leading to a bigger audience/more people.
Now, you might be wondering, “How did we evaluate the credibility of the source?” Well,
that’s a simple question to be answered. We did some research and took the sources that
are trusted and certified by professionals. For example, for our tips and techniques, the
source we used for the information was given by a professional clinic called “American
Academy of dermatology (AAD).” This way we can also prove that mental health matters,
since even other people from all around the world think so too. Other than that our website
also includes fashion inspo, and news for how to take care of your body and why it matters
to our physical appearance, perfect for those who are interested in finding more about those.
We got the news from sources of certified companies talking about it, such as in our first
article, “How to maintain a healthy and fashionable lifestyle,” this article was made by Yiqing
Song, who is a Professor of Epidemiology, in the Department of Epidemiology, and also in
the Fairbanks School of Public Health, knowing this would probably give you the idea on
how trusted our sources are, right?
Before all this we had some problems too, like when i said before about us wanting different
topics, but we were able to find a solution for that. Moreover, during the distribution of tasks,
we each gave everyone a separate job, with Elin as the project manager, me as the content
manager, Ken as the design manager, and Chelsea as the proof-reading/quality check
manager. This allowed us all to work effectively separately in our own tasks but still working
together to make this project successful.
After we finished the project Chelsea helped us check all of our work to make sure there
weren't any grammar or spelling errors, and Elin helped check all of our work overall. We
also solved the problem of having different mindsets by just combining the ideas into one to
get the product of making fashion and mental health websites. To me, the projects this year
were all a success, we made a great outcome and presented well too, I think that all my
group mates think so too and we are all proud of ourselves and what we have accomplished
this academic year.
