Understanding Stream Tubes in Fluid Dynamics

A stream tube is created by a collection of streamlines that pass through a closed curve, typically circular. It is defined by the property that streamlines are tangent to the velocity vector, resulting in no flow across the streamlines. This means there is no velocity component perpendicular to the streamlines within the stream tube.

Stream tube

A stream tube is formed by a group of streamlines passing through a small closed curve, which
may be circular. Since stream tube is bounded by streamlines and the streamline is tangent to the
velocity vector, there can be no component of velocity perpendicular to the streamline, hence no
flow across streamline.
