Try as we might to avoid them, accidents happen. Tell about a time when you were involved in an accident.

Although I never involved in any big accident, but there was a small accident that really changed my life. I would not be here if that accident never happened. I am not regret the time that I spend in Taiwan. Every thing have good side and bad side, if I stay in Macau, I would be less independence but more time to spend with my friends and family, also spend less money than living in Taiwan, I also could find a part time job to help my mother; but if I study in Taiwan, I can have a great experience of living oversea, and doing everything I want instead of going home at 7:00 pm. I cant say which side is better than other side; I only can say if I stay in my hometown Macau, I would be a different person now. Now I am going to tell you my story. At that year, we finished our graduate exam before we take the college entrance exams. So I had three weeks to relax and prepared for the exams that would decide the path of my life. Those three weeks was a wonderful time because I and my classmates have a great time spending together and I just got my drive license of motorcycle. By the way, before I learned how to drive motorcycle, I have problem of riding a bicycle. But my classmates used three day to teach me how to ride a bicycle, they also rode the whole trip with me on the bridge across the Macau Peninsula and Taipa Island. After I got my drive license, I started to drive around with my new motorcycle. I was busy at preparing the exams with my friends after a week of relaxation. I applied for two schools and the joint college entrance exam of Taiwan. Thanks to the help of my classmate, I got an interview chance from a famous college in Macau, called Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) which is

very popular in the students of Macau due to its great teaching skill of English and beautiful uniform. But it is also hard to get in. So I take this interview very serious, I searched the internet for the information of that interview from their past interviewees. Then I asked some of my friends to imitate the interview. After I practiced this for many times, the day of destiny came. I can still recall that morning. My mum was very tense those days, she kept pray to the little statue of bodhisattva, and she made some special food of some Chinese superstition recipe which claims can make children smarter. At that morning, I wake up with an alarm clock which had already ringed three times. I walked to the living room and found out my mum make me a very hearty breakfast. When I was eating my breakfast she kept remain me of some basic manner in the interview. Finally, with the blessing of my family, I got on my motorcycle and go to the campus of IFT. If I have known I cannot make it to the interview, I would not have studied so hard. There is a long slope in front of the IFT. After I made sure there was no car on the road, I gone up on the slope. But another motorcycle suddenly came to the road from the sidewalk and rushing toward me. It was so fast that I cannot avoid it. I fell off the motorcycle and I tried to use my hand as a support before I fell on the ground, but I got bruises on my both hands and my hands kept bleeding. I was glad that I was awake because the guy on the other motorcycle was passed out and bleeding on the head. I asked for help from the people around me, but no one gave me any respond. I felt so flustered in such situation, but I knew I cannot leave this guy on the road; so I dragged the man to the sidewalk and called police. When the ambulance came, I went to the hospital and told the policemen what happened. The time was 5:00 PM when all the processes were done. My appointed time of the interview was 5:30pm. I

thought it is too late for me to go to the interview so I called the office of the IFT, and I tried to explain the accident and put off the interview to the next day; but the person on the phone thought I was making fun of them, No excuse he only spoke these two words then he hung up the phone. I could not believe I lost the opportunity to get in a good college; I called my mum and started to cry. I thought nothing could be worse than this situation, but it turned out life could be that worst. After the guy on the other motorcycle waked up, he told the police that I was the one who suddenly came out from the sidewalk. I was so shock because I couldnt imagine why a person could be so selfish that treated me who saved his life like this. It reminded me of the people on the street. After a car accident occurred in front of them, they were not only ignoring my request of help, they didnt even call police for me. I really think the humanity of the society is dying. That reminds me about a news in mainland China, a little girl in Guangzhou was hit by a car when she was playing in the street. The point is, after she got hit, there were twelve people passed by but no one paid any attention to her; few minutes later, two cars ran over her again. When the little girl is dying, an old woman who was picking trash for money found her and called police. Many Chinese said the reason why they are not helping people is because they afraid of the person they save would blame all the accident on them so the person doesnt have to pay the high expense of the hospital. I saw a great sentence on the internet, I can translate it in English: When honesty is a problem in this society, it means the society have a very serious problem. I think this sentence can perfectly match the situation that I have been though. My mum told me to call the office of IFT to beg for a second chance. Although I thought I can hardly have a second chance, but I still wanted to try because I really wanted to get in that school. Then my father stopped me. He

said it was so shame of me to beg the school like this, and I was convinced by him at that time. Maybe I wasnt like that school anymore after they hang up my phone. I would not like a school without any humanity, even if they accept me. But I was still very afraid that no school would accept me. Then I only could lay my hope on the universities of Taiwan. So, that why I am here. After this experience, I can tell that you will never know what is going to happen at the next minute, but things will turn out just fine. Life is so unpredictable. Today you are alive; maybe tomorrow you will be dead. Your fate can be changed in a second, like me, if I was not go to IFT earlier, the accident would not happened and I would not be here writing this essay. I know that I cant change my fate, but I can change my perspective. Like I said, that accident gives me many experiences that many people have not experience before. Also I can write this essay so easily when many classmate are frustrated about this essay because they have a flat and happy life. I never regret the decision of going to Taiwan, and I can see the disadvantage of study in Macau. If I havent experience the world in these four precious years of my life, I might never have the chance to do that. I lost the chance to get in a good college in Macau, but I get a chance to experience a different country. If it is the thing that I must sacrifice, I will say it is totally worth it.
