the number of units in a building that are occupied.

ESSENTIAL FACILITIES. buildings that have occupancies that are essential to people.

HAZARDOUS FACILITIES. supporting or containing quantities of toxic or explosive substance that, if

contained wihtin a buiding, would cause that building to be defined as the hazardous facility.

SPECIAL OCCUPACY STRUCTURES. those sturctures that have the potential to provide capacity for special
groups of people.

STANDARD OCCUPACY STRUCTURES. regulationsthat determined the maximum number of individuals

allowed to reside in a residential space, ensuring safety and habitability

MISCELLANEOUS STRUCTURES. private garages, carports, shed and fences over 1.5m high.

SECTION 104: DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

Resistance Factor Design and Allowable Stress Design methods

104.2 SERVICEABILITY REQUIREMENT. The ability of a building, assembly, component, product or

construction to perform the function for which it is designed and used.

104.2.1 GENERAL. structural system and memebers thereof shall be designed to have a adequate
stffness to limit deflectioons lateral drift, vibrations or any oher deformation that adversery affect the
intended used and performance of buildings towers and other vertical structures.

104.3 ANALYSIS. Any sstem or method of constructiion to be use shall be based on the rational analysis
in accordance with well established of principles of mechanics that into account equillibrium general
stability geometric compatability and both short team and long term materal properties.
