Ask the students:
What makes these sandwiches different from one another?
Aside from taste, why do sandwiches differ in shape, style,
and preparation?
Unlock Vocabulary:
Garnish – To make a dish more appealing and appetizing, to
complement or enhance its flavor, and to visually identify the
components of the dish.
Group Activity:
Show different examples of sandwiches and ask the students
whether it is a cold sandwich or a hot sandwich.
Teacher discusses:
The types of sandwiches (Cold and Hot)
Discuss the first three types of cold sandwiches.
1. OPEN-FACED SANDWICHES
a. Made with one slice of bread only
b. Filling is placed on top, fully visible
c. Bread may be cut into squares, circles, triangles
