Hydraulic System
The unit is fitted with an a steel hydraulic oil reservoir, the fluid level can be easily monitored
from the sight glass on the side of the reservoir. The tank supply suction lines are all fitted
with a isolator ball valves for maintenance, a removable access hatch near the bottom of
the tank allows the tank to be cleaned out with ease. The main return lines return to tank
via the hydraulic heat exchanger located in front of the engine and from there on to the
tank top filter fitted with visual clogging indicator.
Fuel Reservoir
The fuel reservoir is mounted above the engine, attached to the underside of the hose
storage tray. The fuel reservoir is constructed from aluminium, whilst the hose tray is mild
steel. A clear fuel level gauge is located at the end of the fuel reservoir allowing the operator
to easily monitor fuel levels.
Engine
A naturally aspirated; in-line four cylinder, four stroke, direct injection JCB444 83HP diesel
engine. The engine is fitted to the frame with rubber isolated mounts. The hazardous
area kit fitted to the engine complies with current legislations for operation in Zone 2
environments.
• Combustion air inlet shut down valve designed for both manual shut down (via cable
from operators control panel) and automatic fault shut down on signal from automat-
ic fault shut down control system.
• Automatic engine fuel shut off valve activated by the automatic fault shut down con-
trol system.
• Automatic fault shut down control system, engine oil pressure operated, fault shut
down system to close combustion air valve and fuel valve, on:-

General Information:
This manual should be consulted as a minimum requirement by all persons working with
equipment. Operating instructions, Assembly drawings, part lists, etc. should always be
made available to operators & personnel at the worksite.
The Lack of knowledge due to the failure to consult the manual could result in accidents
involving injury to personnel or damage to property and equipment.
This manual forwards TIS Manufacturing’s recommendations, this however should not be
assumed to satisfy requirements of legal regulations in the region or country in which the
equipment is being used, or any additional company policy of the owner or user.
It is the responsibility of the owners or operators to ensure that only competent and suitably
trained personnel are permitted to operate the equipment.
Any additional workplace measures should be defined, and adhered to, to further reduce
residual risks associated with the use of the equipment.
A program for regular maintenance of equipment must be defined, adhered to and
recorded. Again a program for periodic inspection, testing and examination of equipment
must be defined, and recorded. (Refer to the section maintenance procedures provided
in the manual).
Recommendations:
TIS manufacturing strongly recommends that the competent person must have, as a
minimum:
• Sufficient practical and theoretical knowledge of equipment suitable for that particular
location.
• Sufficient experience of the equipment for the environment in which it is used.
• The ability to detect deficiencies, to assess their criticality in relation to performance,
and to recommend remedial action to ensure that conditions are appropriate for safe
use.
• Be able to establish principal hazards that could occur at the particular location
establish suitable and safe worksite precautions, test methods and means of safe
handling.
• All personnel involved in the operations should have a sound knowledge of their part
of the operation and have received instructions from the competent person.
• The area under the sheave and umbilical should be cordoned off whilst the sheave
in operation.
WARNING
Competency of Personnel:
Operation and maintenance of the equipment should be planned and supervised by a
competent person.
The competent person will normally be the person in charge of the worksite who should
consider the safety aspects of the work and again the skills and competency of the persons
carrying out the operations.
Identifying Hazards:
Hazards are identified and assessed through:
Knowledge of experienced staff provides a sound basis for hazard identification and
assessment.
General Safety TIS
Manufacturing
PM-A-2009
For “Safe” operation the operator must first read this manual and become familiar with the
equipment and its functions.
Before start-up
• Check that Wireline park brake is “on” and that the directional control lever is in neu-
tral
Start procedure:
• Move the emergency stop, air shutdown valve lever in start position and hold.
• Push to latch valve (located below the air inlet manifold) this should be pulled until the
engine oil pressure gauge rises to working pressure (approximately 3 seconds)
• Let go both the Air shutdown valve and the Pull to latch valve.
• Adjust engine speed to warm up engine.
Note:
The oil pressure gauge does not rise when the Push to latch valve is operated, the shut-
down system accumulator may need charging.
A hand pump is provided to charge this accumulator, the hand pump (bicycle pump) is con-
nected to the yellow port, located to the left of the Reset / Stop valve.

Start-up
The tank has been filled up with a clean fluid in proper conditions.
Flushing the system with an external pump prior to the start-up is good.
To allow a good priming of the pump, the air should be bled off.
It is possible to bleed off the air by creating a leak in the P port of the pump.
Warning : this has to be done in low pressure mode as it could create a dangerous fluid leak.
Make sure that the pressure cannot rise (open centre valve to tank, pressure relief valve
unloaded...)
When oil free of air appears, tighten the connectors to the correct torque.
Never operate the pump at top speed and pressure without checking the completion of pump
priming.

Features
These Hydraulic Relief Valves are pilot operated controls consisting of two valve sections; a high
flow, poppet-type seat valve section controlled by the low flow, adjustable pilot section mounted
on top.
The pilot stage design reduces pressure overtravel and cracking flow to a minimum, thus reducing
power and production losses at high pressure operation.
Due to the design, which combines a poppet type seat valve with a pilot control, precise
adjustment and quick response eliminates pressure variation and system shock.
Due to the precise ratio between the main piston area and it's mass, an exceptional fast response
can be obtained. The outstanding design features of the pilot allows for high pressure stability. All
the valve components are quality controlled based on international standards, thus ensuring
worldwide interchangeability and replacement. Each valve is subject to an accurately monitored
functional test.
