Project Design

community.

Reflect on the following:
• 1.- What can be done to improve the living conditions of the population in your community?

• 2.- What project or projects could be implemented for that?

• 3.- What types of community development projects exist?

• 4.- What type of project fits the context of the community?

• 5.- What types of factors influence the choice of a certain type of project?
Community Project.
• In recent times, when communities seek support from the
local authorities, whether mayors, commissioners, these officials request to be
present "a project".
• The authorities are interested in building soccer fields because it is visible and
remains over time; but they are not interested in launching a campaign of
deworming or water intubation, because that is not seen, even if that is what
the community needs more
• It often happens that the authorities are willing to finance a
project for the communities, but their leadership does not consult with the grassroots
to establish investment priorities and the authorities end
executing projects that they believe are a priority for the community.

• A project should always be designed from the foundations of the community and the
leaders must consult so that the election of a project responds to the
true interests of the communities.
• There are different types of projects, some harder to do and others easier.
the most difficult are projects that encompass many things, and that can be
carry out the large organizations, or the government departments.
• In the communities, small projects can be made that can
transform the community, because a project must always aim at a
social change.
• A project is a set of ordered activities that are executed under a
same direction, to achieve a goal, in a determined time and
using some human and material resources.
• The projects must be aimed at solving community problems. If
we analyze this definition, we see that a project is constituted of several
tasks or activities, that must have an order and be directed towards the same
objective.

• If the activity does not have an order or does not have the same direction, it will not be possible.
meet the objectives of a project, for example:
• When two people are rowing in a canoe, they always need to row for a
same side, so the canoe will go straight; but if one person rows to one side and the
another person
• The objective of the project is the goal we want to achieve; to do this, we are organized
the activities, to achieve that goal; for that, resources are also used
materials and the money that is obtained; that is to say, the objective of the project is the
resolution of a problem and must be completed in a certain time (one month,
six months, one year, etc.). Problems do not wait, they must be solved
in a timely manner.
Most common types of community projects
• 1. Those aimed at creating meeting spaces, strengthening communal identity and
address issues and strengths inherent to community dynamics. For example:
installation of a cultural house, community radios, community press,
provision of supplies for cultural and educational groups (libraries, cinemas,
street theater among others).

• 2. Those aimed at addressing situations and reducing service deficiencies

community social care, such as: abandoned children, adolescents in
risk situation, children and young people excluded from the school system, houses
community and programs aimed at serving the elderly, among others.
• 3. Those who provide support, generating conditions that facilitate and induce to the
implementation of productive activities, fostering economic and social effects
in different population groups, such as road developments, electrification.
• 4. Those aimed at harnessing local productive potentials
based on the natural resources, vocations, and culture of the community.
• 5. Those aimed at materializing two or more initiatives presented by the
community. (CRESPO, 2011) Name of the project
