PIETY

Situation. -The basic part of the proclamation of the great truths has ended.
Christianity and its strength has achieved deep interest. However, these truths, although
they have been understood, they have not compromised them for finding them difficult to apply in
life.
To achieve the acceptance of your will to make them a reality, the testimony of
those who have already accepted them and who show us the divine action in them and their effort to
to correspond by living the plan of God, for which the presence of the witness is necessary and
this witness must be the roller when presenting their acceptance and life in a certain way
enthusiastic, credible, and deeply experiential.
Participants are excited and receptive to what is proposed to them, hence the
importance of showing them that it is possible to live a life of grace.
Objective. -Eliminate possible human barriers that hinder the acceptance of the plan.
God, emphasizing the most important aspects of false piety.
Make this presentation supported by the harm they do to others by showing a
deformed and diminished image of God, which prevents acceptance by those who
they live with them.
Present the Piety as the first part of the Tripod, but referred to as an inseparable whole.
in the Christian life, with piety being the indispensable support for the other two
components, the study and the action.
Discover with enthusiasm for the participants that true piety is the profound life of
relationship between God the Father and us his children, which has to manifest itself in love and the
service to the brothers.
That life-relationship with the Father demands a continuous growth and becoming more aware in
as it increases and we achieve this mainly through a life of
prayer, in dialogue with our God.
KEY IDEAS.
I.- Three aspects and the foundation of our Christian life form a tripod that needs
balance and development. It is formed by: our Piety, study and action.
II.- There is a false aspect of Piety that does a lot of harm, not only to the one who practices it.
but also to those who observe it.
III.- Three types of false Piety: individualists, practitioners, and hypocrites.
IV.- Definition of Piety: "Piety is a constant will to serve." It derives from the
life of relationship with the Father, manifested in service to the brothers. "If anyone
 he who says: I love God and hates his brother is a liar, for he who does not love his...
He who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen (1 John 4:20).

V.- The life of Piety grows and perfects itself with prayer, sacrifices, the
sacraments and the practice of charity.
VI.-"What you have done to one of these little ones, you have done to me" (Matthew 25,
40).

DEVELOPMENT.
Introduction. - In our Christian life, we distinguish three aspects that are
deeply united and interrelated, they are also like supports that the
they hold.
We will study each of these three aspects to facilitate understanding.
I.- The three aspects that sustain Christian Life are: piety, study and
action.
They are like a necessary tripod to maintain the balance of our Christian living.
In this section, we will focus on the first aspect, Piety.
II.- There is a false aspect of Piedad's life that has caused much harm by presenting
a distorted image of God, not only to those who practice it but also to those who
they are surrounded by it and for the same reason reject the relationship with that deformed God.
III.-To illustrate the above, we can identify the three different types of the false
pity.
A) The individualists. They are those for whom the only thing that matters is 'God and me.'
 They forget that God loves all men equally and seeks them out.

 They want to monopolize God and his favors for themselves alone. They have no sense.
community.
 They prevent others from reaching God by covering the entrance door with their actions.
They want to save themselves from going to hell, but everyone.
 Their religiosity is exclusively vertical. They are sincere, but wrong and
selfish.
B) The practitioners. - They consider that Christianity is about living the greatest number of
pious practices that are possible.
 They reduce their Christian being to practices, lacking depth of spiritual life and
authentic life.
 They present to others a God of 'regulations and practices', disembodied like the
religion they practice.
 They are less sincere than individualists in identifying life with practices.
 They live in the world of pious practices opposite to the world in which they
they move daily. They say: 'one thing is religion and another is life'.
 C) The hypocrites or Pharisees.
 They use the image of appearing Christian for their own particular purposes, no
Christians.
 They appear, knowing that they are neither and do not care to be.
 They make a mockery of Christianity with their lives.
 Jesus Christ called them with extreme harshness: "brood of vipers", "tombs"
whitened.
 They discredit Christianity and drive men away from God.
 There is no sincerity in their actions, just coexistence. They think they are good and despise.

IV.- The authentic life of Piedad is based on the relational life with the father,
manifested in the service to the brothers.
Nothing can make a father happier than the love of his children for each other.
Piety is a constant will to serve.
If anyone says he loves God and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not
But he who does not love his brother whom he sees, cannot love God whom he does not see” (1 John 4:20).

V.- Piedad's life must continuously grow according to God's plan, not
It cannot remain static or hidden. It must manifest and bear fruit.
A) Piedad's life grows and improves:
 With prayer, understood as dialogue and relationship between man and God.
 With the sacrifices inherent to our daily living.
 With the conscious and constant frequency of the sacraments.
 And with the continuous practice of service to the brothers.

VI.- The life of Piety consists in bringing the whole life under the light of the whole Gospel.
 Not a part of life in the light of the whole Gospel.
 Not all of life according to a part of the Gospel.
 If not, the whole life illuminated by the whole gospel.

VII.- To keep in mind what the Lord indicated to us:

"What you have done to one of these little ones" (Matthew 25:40).

FALSE CONCEPTS OF PIETY
Sometimes we do not laugh, and with good reason because of the concept we have.

THE BEATS OR SENTIMENTAL

These are not related to those that the Church beats.
THE ROUTINE OR PRACTICAL ONES
They are less sincere than the pious.
THE HYPOCRITICAL PHARISEES
It is better not to talk about these, as Christ himself called them a brood of vipers.

AUTHENTIC AND GENUINE PIETY

Thank God that not all Christians are HOLIER-THAN-THOU, nor CRITICAL, nor PHARISEES.

LIFE IN CONSCIOUS, GROWING AND SPREADING GRACE

Because living and following Christ and acting like Christ.

It is the direction of our entire life towards God and towards our brothers. ALL OF THIS IS
