Create a homemade filter that allows purifying rainwater.

Materials:

Materials you found in the abandoned cabin: a bucket, an old can full of water

you can bring the already cut bottles).
Make a hole in the cork or use a cork to seal the bottle pierced with a straw.
(little piece of sorbet)
Turn the bottle upside down so that you can place the cotton first and then the
rest of the materials. You must place them in the following order: cotton, fine sand, sand
thick, small rocks. If you don't have cotton, first place the larger stones because
you better close the hole of the bottle.
Pour the dirty water over the top of the bottle. Watch the water running through the sand and the
gravel.
Collect the water that falls into the filter bucket and add two tablespoons of alum. Shake it.
water slowly for about 5 minutes. The dirt particles stick to each other,
forming larger particles that will have less chance of passing through the filter.
If you have activated carbon, place a layer of it (in your model), in addition to the layers of sand,
gravel and stones. Filter colored water with dye and observe what happens when you pass it several times.
(To do it demonstratively by the teacher).

When water travels through these layers, it gets cleaned. This is one of the reasons why many people
They think that groundwater is very clean.
Water supply companies filter water at treatment plants using sand filters or
