Understanding Stories, Summaries, and Reviews
Understanding Stories, Summaries, and Reviews
Well, a summary is the abbreviated and accurate representation of the content of a document,
without critical interpretation and without distinguishing the author of the analysis; that is to say, a brief writing
that collects the main ideas of the text
Review is the expository-argumentative text that is produced in the academic field and in
newspapers, magazines or other media about a specific event. It is usually used
to refer to a cultural and sporting event or in literary and artistic criticism.
In a review, a summary of the content of the work or event is made, selecting the
significant, its essential ideas, its purpose, the objective and other complementary aspects;
thus reflecting the writer's opinion.
The narrative is a structured account in which events are represented through the
language. The stories can be fictional or represent historical characters or events.
For me, it is important to know how to differentiate between one and the other because in this module I awakened a
great interest in reading that I didn’t have before, besides the fact that a summary is not the same as
a story, although on paper they are very similar and neither a review nor a summary,
I believe that the most valuable thing about knowing how to differentiate these types of texts lies in being able to
identify each one and give the correct focus to what we are reading, therefore
extract from a text the assertive idea about the author's perspective. Without mentioning a better one.

How can I apply them in my life context?
I can apply the narrative when I tell a story, an anecdote, an explanation of a topic.
Now that I know the correct structure, I can easily apply the summary to my life.
when I want to express in a few words what a book, comic, video, etc. was about, and
Finally, I can apply the review to my life when talking about a movie, series, or novel.
documentary, book etc. but this time including personal critiques, whether good or bad.
From my point of view, throughout our lives we always use storytelling, summary, or review.
without even knowing it, not in the right way, but we always apply it indirectly.

Good afternoon
Comrade Berenice
I agree with you, as knowing the difference of each one of them helps us to
lograr la meta que cada uno de nosotros nos hemos propuesto de concluir nuestro bachillerato
and it will continue to serve us in our life after this.
I will only make an observation regarding the review, the review is used to create
evaluations or constructive criticisms which can be positive or negative depending
from the critic's point of view, and these can be of some object, a song, a book, a
work, etc.
I hope to be correct, otherwise if someone has the correct information with which
I would also appreciate your feedback.

Good afternoon, colleague Amalia: Fourth participation.
I share with you that you can also use the review with your niece, it aims to offer her a perspective.
general overview and critique of books or stories, it is about speaking descriptively and
criticism about what you want to invite him/her to see - read - listen to, the idea is that you can awaken the
interés de la niña (para ver una película, leer un libro, escuchar un disco o acudir a un evento
to dissuade her, explaining what it can bring her, whether good or bad.
Greetings.
