GNSS Post-Processing Guide with Topcon

The document outlines procedures for GNSS post-processing using Topcon Tools, emphasizing the importance of organization in project files and folders. It details steps for creating and configuring a project, importing raw files, processing data, and generating reports, including specific configurations for coordinate systems and post-processing options. Additionally, it discusses calculating velocities of points based on geodynamic effects and the necessary certifications for accurate results.

Organization in a job will guarantee its success, which is why it is necessary to be

careful with file names, folders, reports, observations, etc.

Each job must have a folder, to be named after the contractor, client or
any other definitive identification. Within this folder there will be multiple folders,
each referring to a part of the project, for example Station, Level, Reports, GNSS etc.

The GNSS folder will contain a folder with the raw data, post-processing, conversion (if it is
necessary), reports, checkpoint certification and any other relevant information
to the project.

CREATE AND CONFIGURE PROJECT

The work will be done with version 7.5 and the EGM 2008 geoid installed.

Go to Start - All Programs - Topcon - Topcon Tools

When the software starts, it will request the key, as the program allows us to post-process in
demo mode 5 points in static with all satellites of any carrier and constellation
It is a good tool for performing differential post-processing.

In the folder called POST-PROCESSING, all files from the post-process will be stored.

In the initial dialog box, click on New Job (Figure 1).

Figure 1

2. In the Create New Job dialog box, fill in the information - job name
work, route, created by, comments and click on Edit Configuration. (Figure 2)

COORDINATE SYSTEMS (Figure 5) – it is the most important configuration interface, since in

She defines the parameters of Datum, geoid, and post-processing projection system, already
that the software does not yet include the projection system parameters, it is necessary to create it.

For this, click on Custom - Add and finally in the pop-up dialog enter the
parameters corresponding to the projection of Gauss Kruger planes.

Remember that the projection of two-dimensional cartesian coordinates cannot be worked on this
type of software since it is not possible to enter a height into the projection plan. For the
that must be post-processed in geographic terms and then carry out the respective conversion.

After selecting the Geoid, it is necessary to define how the post-processing will be carried out, of which
there are 5 options:

• Data-Lat-Lon-Ell H– post-process in Curvilinears and ellipsoidal height - in the Datum

user-defined, if the Datum were different from WGS-84 however in this
case as it is the same, will give the same result as the following option.

• WGS84-Lat-Lon-EllH - post-process in Curvilinear and ellipsoidal height

• Date-Lat-Lon--Elevation- post-process in Curvilinear and height above sea level, that would be the case
post-processing in a Horizontal Datum

• WGS84 X,Y,Z - postprocess into Three-Dimensional Cartesian coordinates.

• GRID - post-process in projected coordinates and height above sea level.

If a standard for post-processing the information is defined, errors are reduced.

a. Fill in the antenna data
b. Define checkpoint
c. Enter control point coordinates
d. Process
e. Adjust
f. Create report

The first step is to fill in the antenna information and field information in the
GPS Tab Occupations - as it is Point name, type of antenna (Model) -
altura – Tipo de medida

7. The second step is to fill in the checkpoint information in the Points tab.

desplegará un cuadro de diálogo en el cual ingresara las coordenadas para el post-
differential process and the characteristics of the control point - Figure 11.

• None - if it is not a checkpoint

• Both – If it is a horizontal and vertical checkpoint
• Vertical - Vertical control point only
• Horizontal - Checkpoint only horizontal

For this, you must apply the procedure explained previously in class.

For example

13. or you can do it with the MAGNA-SIRGAS V(2) software by entering the epochs of
reference and current and their speeds in the Calculate Speeds module (Figure 25) -
These coordinates are the ones you must enter in the post-processing with Topcon Tools.

14. After performing the respective post-processing, you must calculate the velocities of the
points positioned with a velocity model which you can download from the
SIRGAS page (Figure 27[Link] or calculate in the
MAGNA-SIRGAS V3 in the speed calculation module (Figure 26)

Figure 26

• When the SIRGAS- Vemos 2009 speed model is downloaded, it must

unzip it into a folder, which will contain the following files:

• You must modify the file TEST_IN.TXT with the points to calculate the speeds, in
degree decimals.
