Introduction

Information and communication technologies are a resource in management and


they fit perfectly into the government proposal of Public Management, which is defined
as responsible for managing the public interest of a certain agency.

In this work, we will talk about Information and Communication Technologies in


Public Administration in Mozambique, where we will delve into the role of ICTs in
Public Administration, the current situation of the implementation of ICTs in Administration
Public in Mozambique, the advantages and/or disadvantages of using ICTs in the sector
public, and the challenges and opportunities for the future of ICT in Administration
public.

In this work, we will use descriptive and analytical methods.

The role of Information and Communication Technologies in Public Administration
and its advantages

In today's world, ICTs have reached a high level in the information society.
both at the individual and organizational level. ICTs are a fundamental tool.

transformation of the public sector.

Information Technologies are defined by Alecrim (2013) as the set of


all activities and solutions provided by computational resources aimed at
allow the obtaining, storage, access, management, and use of the information,
applied to support various types of areas.

In the 1970s, information technology was introduced in public management, based on


management of expenses and revenues and continued until the most recent experiences, with
focus on service delivery to citizens (Diniz, 2005).

It is understood that the use of ICTs in the public sector promotes citizen participation and
increases transparency in decision-making about public policies, being this a
subject considered of great importance, both for governments and for the
citizens.

Due to the importance of ICT in the public sector, the relevance of innovations has been noted.

administration professionals, as a fundamental instrument for realization
of electronic government and, concurrently, for modernization, reform and

focused on public management, and these systems have as their main objectives, to allow
the transparency in the implementation of various government actions, to enable the
population the monitoring of the proceedings, as well as access to
practical information, so that society has control over what happens.

As for the disadvantages, we can mention the loss of jobs generated by the
automation of technologies, security issues, due to being vulnerable
to hackers who can access data harming the sector in various ways
streams. In addition to these disadvantages, the use of ICTs incurs many costs in
installation and maintenance of them.
But from a positive perspective, that is, in terms of their advantages, ICTs increase the

participation and efficiency in organizational processes improving innovation,


effectiveness and quality, which positively facilitates the management of leaders regarding
control of resources and the improvement of productivity.
ICTs have opened up a wide range of new communication methods, enabling that
you get in touch with other people for less money and at greater distances
than before. They allow for the gathering of information in real time, integration of
public systems and greater citizen participation in public management.

It is true that with new technologies, we can communicate with anyone in the

of laboratory tests in hospitals, among other services.
