TEACHER:
SUMMARY
History and evolution of computers, technologies, and applications of
computers, definition of computers; processing capacity and
storage;
Components of a computing system: Concepts and characteristics of
Software (Basics, Utilities, and Applications) and Hardware (Processor, Memory,
Motherboard, I/O devices, video, network and sound cards, etc.) Peopleware;
The computer language, digital representation of data;
The importance of computer science for contemporary communication.
Free and/or proprietary operating systems;
Management and use of text editors, spreadsheets, and presentations
(books and/or proprietary);
Application of electronic tools for searching for information on the Internet,
web browsing and sending emails with attachments.
Utility tools (antivirus, defragmenters, system optimizers
em geral);
Use of specific software in the field of computer science
Aspects of the profession and the job market in the field of computer science.
COMPETENCIES
Know the basic principles of computer science;
Know the operational aspects of informatics;
Identify the components of the computer and its peripherals, analyzing their
functioning;
Use operating systems, text editing tools, spreadsheets
electronics and presentations;
Use the internet productively and safely;
Use security and optimization utility tools.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES
General:
Train the student to understand basic and historical concepts of computer science, of
computer science and computer networks. Understand the importance of computing
in society. Understand the basic functionality of computers. Use, in a way
productive, and perform simple configurations on the Windows and/or Linux operating system,
as well as in application programs and utilities.
Specific:
Recognize the role of computer science in the organization of social and political life
economic and cultural, understanding computational concepts and using them in
world of work and/or in social practice;
Show the evolution of the computer throughout history;
Provide the student with basic knowledge about digital computers;
Use and make simple configurations of the Windows operating system and/or
Linux
Present basic concepts about Computer Networks;
Use utility programs for computers, such as text editors,
spreadsheets, presentation programs, and graphic editing software.

2. Concepts and Characteristics of Software
Classification (free vs proprietary, basic vs application, demo vs free vs shareware, etc).
Virus x antivirus. File compression (zip, rar, tar, [Link], 7z, gzip, bzip).
3. Operating Systems
Windows
- Desktop, start button, windows, accessories;
- Concept of files, folders, and file system. Use of Windows Explorer.
Linux
Basic use of office tools
Word, Excel, PowerPoint (Windows)
- Writer, Calc, Impress (Linux)

6. Basic concepts about computer networks and the Internet

EVALUATION OF THE TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS
Written and/or practical assessments (with a minimum of 3).
