Topic: Environmental Impact Assessment Report for a [Project] in [Location]
You are to identify a property in a location of your choice,* and create an Environmental
Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the construction of a commercial or infrastructure
project on that property. The EIA should include public consultation with at least 10 people to
evaluate the socio-environmental impact of the project on the local community. The report
should include the following components:
1. Property and Location Description: A detailed description of the property and the
natural environment of the location or place. Include details such as the size or extent
of the property, GPS Co-ordinates, whether it is in a rural or urban area, coastal or
inland, its current use (agricultural, commercial, residential, public), zoning
classification, existing structures, and its proximity to major landmarks such as
hospitals, educational institutions, residential buildings, parks, etc.
2. Project Description: A detailed description of the project that is proposed to be
implemented on the property.
3. Public Consultation Report: A comprehensive report summarizing the findings from
the public consultation, including the perspectives and concerns of the local community
regarding the project’s socio-environmental impact.
4. Regulatory Framework Summary: A detailed summary of the applicable regulatory
frameworks, including all frameworks covered in the syllabus.**
5. Property Photographs: Three geotagged photographs showcasing the identified
property, one of which must include yourself.
6. Public Consultation Questionnaires: Responses from 10 completed questionnaires.
*You may choose a location in your hometown or of convenience, to overcome language barriers
in conducting public consultation.
** The assessment of the assignment will have a substantial weightage on the identification of
regulatory framework.
- Commercial projects refer to any type of development or construction project that is intended for
commercial use, typically for profit-oriented activities. Example: factories, shopping malls, sports
facilities such as stadiums, office complexes etc.
- Infrastructure projects refer to large-scale public works designed to create, develop, or improve essential
physical systems and facilities that provide basic services to communities and industries. Example:
highways, bridges, metro rails, renewable energy facilities like dams, solar farms and wind farms etc.
