1. Are you a student or do you work now?
Currently, I am a first-year student in (name) university in Korea. My major is
mechatronics and I have 2 years to learn about it. It’s quite interesting because I can
learn new things like I can find reasons why machines are working.
2. What subjects are you studying?
I’m studying mechatronics. This subject is about electricity and how machines work.
For example, we learn how to fix robot’s arms or make 3D printer products in practical
classes
3. Why did you choose that subject?
Because I think it’s very practical. I want to have a stable job in the future, and this
major can help me get that. Also, I always liked fixing things — like when I helped my
uncle fix the fan at home.
4. Is there anything that you don’t like about it?
Yes, sometimes the theory is too difficult. There are many formulas and technical
words that are hard to understand. For example, learning about transformers or power
systems can make my head spin a little.
6. What are the most popular subjects in Vietnam?
I think business, IT, and English are very popular. Many students choose them because
they can find jobs easily after graduation. In my hometown, many friends studied
accounting or computer science.
7. What are your favourite classes/ courses/ subjects at school/ university?
I like practical classes the most. Because I can use my hands and really understand the
machines. For example, last week we opened an electric motor and fixed the wires —
it was fun!
8. Do you think it’s important to choose a subject you like?
Yes, I think it’s very important. If you don’t like it, you will feel bored or tired. I used
to try studying business before, but I quit because it wasn’t for me.
13. Do you miss being a student?
Now I’m a student again, and I really enjoy it. But when I worked, I sometimes missed
the feeling of learning new things. Studying is hard, but it gives me more hope for the
future.
