ABO Blood Group Inverse Test Guide
ABO Blood Group Inverse Test Guide
Introduction
In the human species, there are several different genes involved in compatibility or
incompatibility of blood transfusions. The two main groups are known as
ABO and RH.
The Rh factor corresponds to a plasma protein. The presentation of this protein is Rh+ and the
Rh- absence
The determination of blood type is carried out by confronting the problematic red blood cells with
reactives indicates the presence of the corresponding antigens
Foundation
The patient's serum that contains antigens comes into contact with the criteria with which
erythrocytes that contain antibodies forming an Ag-Ab complex, which manifests
microscopically through agglutination.
Test for ABO groups
Material:
Wooden applicators
Patient's serum
Procedure:
2. To each of the tubes, 1 cm of saline solution is added and the red blood cells are resuspended.
3. Two separate drops of problem serum are placed on a glass slide, to the left drop
1 drop of the erythrocyte suspension A is added to the left and 1 drop of the suspension to the right.
red blood cells B.
Interpretation of Results:
a) If the serum agglutinates A red blood cells ---- it has Ac A, the serum that has Ac A corresponds t
blood type B, the serum problem, corresponds to blood of type B.
c) If the serum problem agglutinates erythrocytes A and B ---- it has antibodies A and B, the serum that has antibodies A and
B corresponds to blood type O, therefore the problematic serum corresponds to a blood type group.
O.
d) If the serum problem does not agglutinate in the red blood cells---A andit has
B neither Ac nor A nor B, so
Both the serum problem belongs to a blood type of group AB.

Conclusions
This test is widely used in Blood Banks, as it undoubtedly corroborates
the results of a blood typing done on a plate. Its accuracy makes it that the
blood in case of a transfusion is reliable, thus avoiding possible reactions or
rejection.
