O que é Hardware? E Software?

Hardware: encompasses all physical devices and equipment used in the process.
of information.

Software: it is the logical part, the set of instructions and data processed by the circuits
electronics of the hardware. All interaction of users of modern computers is
carried out through the software, which is the layer placed over the hardware that
transform the computer into something useful for humanity.

Memories – RAM and ROM

RAM (Random Access Memory) or Random Access Memory: it is a
volatile memory that is used to run applications after the computer is already
linked, and whose information is lost after the machine is turned off.

ROM (Read-Only Memory) or Read-Only Memory: where the

when the device is turned off.

HD (Hard Disck) – Disco Rígido

It serves as a permanent storage unit, holding data and
programs.

4
Processor
The processor is the brain of the computer, tasked with processing the majority
part of the information.

The processor is the most complex and often the most expensive component, but it
cannot do anything alone. Like every brain, it needs a body, which
is formed by the other components of the computer, including memory, hard drive, motherboard
video and network, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Motherboard
This piece can also be interpreted as the backbone of the computer,
after all, it is she who interconnects all the devices of the equipment, that is, the processor
with RAM, hard drive, graphics card, among others. In addition to allowing the
information traffic, the board also powers some peripherals with energy
electricity that receives from the power supply of the case.

All motherboards have BIOS (Basic Input Output System). It is a

small control software stored in a ROM memory chip that stores
hardware settings and information related to date and time. To maintain the

active, as well as the hardware settings.

Video Card
It is up to the graphics card to generate everything that will appear on your monitor, such as

images of games and applications, effects, etc.

In the cheaper computers, the video cards are integrated into the motherboard.
they do not have dedicated memory, and therefore use the system's live memory,
it is usually called shared memory.

On good and more sophisticated computers, the video adapter can have a
own processor, the GPU or graphics accelerator. It is a processor
able to generate three-dimensional images and visual effects, and accelerate two-dimensional ones,
relieving the work of the main processor and generating a better final result
faster.

Power Supply
The basic function of the power supply is to transform alternating current from the
electric circuit in direct current, filter and stabilize the current and generate the voltages of
3.3V, 5V, and 12V provided to the other components.

6
Peripherals
Peripherals are devices or expansion cards that send or receive information from

Examples: keyboard, mouse, microphone, speakers, printers, monitor, scanners, etc.

INTERNET

ACCESSING GOOGLE
To access the internet, it is necessary to have a browser. The most common ones are
shown in Figure 1, below:

To use the internet, it is necessary to follow some steps, first locate
the browser (one of those shown in Figure 1) on your computer's desktop and

the item is a little more to the right, as if it were a paragraph, it can be
considered a subitem of the above. So it is possible to open the news (or information

Another quite common site to find news about sports, politics, culture,
novels, technologies, etc is the Globo website. To access it, you need to type in the bar

CREATING AN EMAIL ACCOUNT

Now that we know how to access the internet and search for pages, we can

an electronic address of an internet user, that is, a means of communication used with
various purposes, among which we highlight:

Communicate with people who live far away;

Receive promotional advertisements;
Job vacancy announcements.

Some examples of emails are presented below:
