Vertical Rescue Procedures for Towers

This document establishes the guidelines and safety procedures for performing vertical rescues on communication towers. It describes the necessary equipment for the rescue, including ropes, harnesses, helmets, and carabiners. It explains that when an emergency occurs, the rescuer must ascend to the victim, secure them with the rescue equipment, and lower them in a controlled manner with the help of an assistant on the ground. The goal is to recover the victim safely and provide.

OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE

POLYPAST SYSTEMS IN VERTICAL RESCUE

1. Objective.
Establish the guidelines and security practices to consider in case of arriving at
to present an event related to work at heights, in the installation processes of
grounding systems and/or communication systems.

2. Scope.
This procedure is applicable to all activities on self-supported and braced towers where
a vertical rescue is required.

3. Definitions.

Vertical rescue: a set of procedures and techniques to locate, access, stabilize

and to remove a victim from a dangerous situation in which there is an average obstacle
of vertical type.
Safety: a set of rules, laws, and regulations to prevent risks and avoid
accidents Definitions.
Rescue: This term refers to the procedures, techniques, and maneuvers to be performed to
recover material objects and particularly people from hard-to-reach places.
Rope: It is a set of threads made of flexible material, twisted together (braided or
fabrics) form a single body, with a great variety of diameters and lengths.
Line: This is called a cord that is taut, anchored, and prepared to begin maneuvers.
of descent in the approach to the victim.

4. Content.
4.1. Risk factors that activate the rescue plan.
In the development of the last mile communication link installation work, supports
and/or grounding lines, in a self-supported or braced communication tower, can be
present during the development of the work the following risk factors that can
activate the rescue plan:

Fainting: Caused by high temperatures due to sun exposure, deficiency in the

hydration, or due to excessive time in suspension which can decrease the levels of
circulation.
Electrocution: Caused by electric shocks due to proximity to power lines
energized, or by exposure to work at heights under thunderstorm conditions.
Hits: It can occur due to the process inherent to the activity or equipment that is being used.
installing or uninstalling that can cause accidents from blows to the head or in
any other important part of the body.
Cuts: This event can occur mainly when work is being done with
sharp or piercing tools or equipment, which in handling can cause cuts on
different parts of the body.
Abrupt drops: In the processes of ascent and descent to the different scenarios
It can present hangings with the protection systems that can generate a
condition of unfitness of the worker, which requires the development of the rescue process.
