Adolescents and undesirable behaviours
One common challenge during adolescence is temptation—especially the urge to engage in behaviours that
go against family, school, or social rules. Some teenagers may experiment with harmful substances like
cigarettes or alcohol. Undesirable behaviours often share similar traits: they may be used to escape stress,
influence others negatively, and lead to consequences that affect not only the individual but also their
friends, families, and the wider community.
In this worksheet, we will explore the causes of these behaviours, their impacts, and strategies to prevent
or correct them effectively. The following is a framework which can be adopted for the study of different
undesirable behaviours among teenagers in Hong Kong society:
