Introduction
The existence of the eight elemental colors was already discovered by
Leonardo da Vinci: "Black and white are followed by blue and yellow, then
el verde y el leonido u ocre; después el color de la mora y el rojo. Estos
There are eight colors, and no more natural colors exist (Book of Painting).
1452-1519.
Isaac Newton's colored spinning disk (1642-1727)
demonstrated that white light is made up of the colors of the rainbow.
Newton observed that when a beam of light passes through a lens,
There are always color variations around the transmitted image.
This coloration, generated by the different light sources to which
the lens is exposed, it is called light dispersion.
He also verified that if he passed a beam of light through a
prism, the white light was decomposing into a series of bright colors
(rainbow) that he called solar spectrum. From this experience he deduced that
if white light could be decomposed into the colors of the rainbow,
combining these could lead back to the color white.
The color spinning disk was one of the various experiences of
that was used to demonstrate his theory. It is a divided disk.
in sectors painted with the colors of the visible spectrum. By spinning it
at great speed one can observe how these colors disappear,
taking a white hue, brighter the better it has been done
the proportion of colors.
Problem Statement
Sometimes when it stops raining, the sun appears among the clouds and a rainbow forms.
rainbow in the sky. This happens because sunlight passes through the
raindrops that still remain in the air. These droplets divide the light
solar in 7 colors that are always in the same order: red, orange,
yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. So all these colors
the beautiful rainbow is formed, the same happens if you try to make a
white light ray through a prism, the light divides forming the 7
colors.
Consequently, if from white light arise the 7 colors:
Is it possible to form the color white from the 7 colors of the
rainbow?
Hypothesis:
If I manage to combine the colors of the rainbow, a color can be formed
white.
Experiment (Experimentation Stage)
Materials:
Wooden base
Small motor with shaft
Batteries or battery
Paper circles with the colors of the rainbow.
Tempera
Glue
Scissors
Instructions:
Join the base with the engine using glue and leaving the axle.
upward, to allow him to introduce the paper circles.
Cut and paint different designs of paper circles with the
colors of the rainbow.
Attach the battery to the base of the experiment using glue.
Now to Experiment!
Observation Stage
Different circles were selected with the 7 colors, varying
en:
Size of the circle.
2. Size of each color in the circle.
3. Intensity of each color (how bright the colors were).
4 were selected:
Circle 1:
Circle size: large.
-Tamaño de los colores: todos de igual proporción.
-Intensidad del color: intensa, normal y suave.
Circle 2:
Circle size: medium.
Size of the colors: different from each other.
Color intensity: soft.
Circle 3:
Circle size: medium.
Size of the colors: equal.
Intensity of colors: intense.
Circle 4:
Circle size: small.
Size of the colors: red larger than the rest.
Color intensity: soft.
The circles were arranged in the same order obtaining
different shades of white.
Conclusiones:
After observing the four different colored discs, it was concluded that the
conclusion:
The 4 color combinations gave different shades of
white, some lighter and others darker.
This varied according to the INTENSITY (brightness of each color),
PROPORTION (size of each color) and according to its POSITION of
circle on the engine axis (the closer to the middle, the whiter it is).
Therefore, it can be said that by combining the 7 colors that
the rainbow is formed, white color is created, but this will vary
according to the proportions and shades of color.
