OBJECT AND SCOPE
Objectives
Develop and implement activities for prevention, control, and elimination of
pests and rodents.
Prevent food from spoiling easily, leading to changes in
its characteristics (color, odor, texture) and preservation.
Scope
The implementation of the pest and rodent control program allows
prevent and control the infestation caused by pest activity,
through the application of different control measures allowing to create
better sanitary conditions in the preparation, storage and
transport of the products.
CONSIDERATIONS
Pests pose a great threat to people's health, safety, and
food aptitude. The chances of infestation can be minimized
through good sanitation, the inspection of the materials introduced and a
good surveillance, thereby limiting the need for the use of chemical products. The plan
Pest and rodent maintenance must be comprehensive and include all the
strategies for achieving proper pest management. Integral is understood as
the implementation of the set of physical, chemical, and management operations for
minimize the presence of pests.
Let us remember that insects and rodents need environments that provide them:

Flying and crawling insects (flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, beetles)
Rodents (rats and mice)
Domestic animals (cats, dogs)
Birds (dove)
To prevent its development, actions must be taken into account.
the following measures, which must be carried out continuously.
Do not leave food or waste inside the premises.
Clean all food remnants on surfaces or areas at the end of each day.
Clean the grease retained in the cleaning areas.
Sweep the floors, including under the tables and machines, especially
near the walls.
Clean the drains.
Clean all standing water and beverage spills every night.
Collect dirty rags, aprons, napkins, and tablecloths. Wash the items of
frequently fabric.
Do not store things in cardboard boxes and on the floor.
Do not leave the garbage for long periods of time.
The implementation of these actions creates adverse conditions which makes it difficult
the development of the various pests.
CLASSIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION
In general, urban pests can be classified as:
Public Health: Vectors and Rodents, When they are habitual vectors of
diseases and/or carriers of pathogenic germs, (rodents, flies,
mosquitoes, cockroaches, fleas, lice) or when they are internal or external parasites
of human beings.
Industrial of stored products or agricultural activities such as production
of food or common in gardens and green areas.
Circumstantial bats, pigeons, spiders, scorpions, vipers, and fauna
wild that match rural places or close to natural ecosystems.

TYPES OF CONTROLS
Physical barriers and mechanical devices:
In addition to preventive actions, control measures are important.
physical. This consists of exclusion actions of pests in the areas of
manipulation and elaboration.
The use of different non-chemical elements for the capture of insects, such as
for example UV light traps for flying insects, sticky traps or
insect or rodent adhesives and air curtains are considered
physical actions.
Another type of barrier is the control of weeds in peri-domiciliary areas or
access roads. The holes of the drains, siphons, and other places through which
Those that can allow pests to penetrate must be kept tightly closed.
Through protective barriers such as metal nets or mosquito nets, placed by
example in open windows, doors, and ventilation openings, is
it will reduce the problem of pest entry. Special attention will be paid to the
bird activity, it is necessary to prevent them from nesting near the service of
feeding.
Chemical control.
The treatment with chemical products (baits, insecticides) must be carried out from
in a way that does not pose a threat to people and safety or suitability
of the food. The application of chemicals must be carried out by personnel
suitable and qualified for this purpose. Remember that improper handling and/or
the application of these products can bring along problems of
poisonings. The combat measures that include treatment with agents
chemical, physical or biological substances should only be applied under the direct supervision of the
responsible professional authorized by the competent authority. They must
maintain appropriate records of pesticide use.
DEVELOPMENT
MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF ARTHROPODS
American Cockroach (Periplaneta americana): It is known as
flying cockroach, it is the largest, could reach up to 37 mm and

they exceed the abdomen and in the second they are practically the same
length. They are often found in humid and dark places such as:
foundations, drainage systems, blind wells, pipes, and upper angles of roofs
of basements. They generally feed on decomposing materials,
glues, papers, fabrics, syrups, and candies among others. The species

Sexually, the females carry an ootheca in their abdomen for several
days or weeks and they abandon it shortly before the hatching of the eggs.
Nymphs undergo a molting process that can take from 5 to
7 stages. Behavior: they are gregarious insects, if needed.
they practice cannibalism due to the lack of food, a fact that they take advantage of
the latest generation insecticides for their control, but generally they

They have a special preference for starchy foods like potatoes.
bread, flour, etc.
Dengue Hemorrhagic Mosquito (Aedes aegypti): They are dipterans of the
Culicidae family, with genera such as Culle, Aedes, and Anopheles. They are
important transmitters of diseases such as malaria and fever
yellow, its larvae are aquatic so mosquitoes are very
common during the rainy season or shortly after it,
where stagnant water exists and in areas where there are containers
permanent, artificial or natural. Only the females are
blood-feeding. Mosquitoes undergo complete metamorphosis.
The larvae go through four nymphal stages, which is a period that varies.
from 4 to 10 days, in order to form the pupa. This stage can last from one day
and several weeks. When she is ready for adulthood, she rises to the surface
from the water and abandons the pupal skin. Almost all species move
actively in the water.
House Fly (Common Fly): Its life cycle has 4 stages; egg,
larva, pupa, and adult, and it takes about 3 weeks to complete.
favorable conditions. It mechanically transmits dysentery, diarrhea,
typhoid fever, cholera, leprosy, poliomyelitis, and parasitic worms; also

Ants: Ants prefer sweet foods, sugars, syrups,
fruit juices, etc. They are characterized by their antennae and by an exoskeleton.

and they breathe through spiracles located on their sides.
FORMS OF APPLICATION AND CONTROL
SPRAYING: For surface applications residual effect, with
appropriate manual equipment for fumigations against crawling insects,
in areas where fumigation needs to be localized.
NEBULIZATION: Intermediate system, motor equipment, system that emanates
micronized particles in vapor form in which the particle remains
suspended in the environment, controlling both flying and ...

PHEROMONE APPLICATION: New system for control of
moss, is applied with a brush at the level of door frames, windows and
non-porous walls that do not come into contact with water. Product to
pheromone base as a sexual attractant, is very effective for

of each process to form a protective bar.
COCKROACH GEL: Bait with excellent palatability for
cockroaches, no need to vacate premises, it is odorless and has
domino effect. Special for application in electrical devices and
electronics with the presence of cockroaches such as: computers,
scales, microwave ovens, kitchens, etc.
CHEMICAL INSECTICIDES: DELTAMETHRIN – ALPHAMETHRIN –
CYPERMETHRIN (Each insecticide must be changed after six
applications to prevent pest immunity to control and it is

MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF RODENTS
Norwegian rat (Rattus norvegicus): Large rodent, weighs 560
he lives in the sewer in a system of burrows that is always
perimeter around the buildings, especially in those places that
they manage or store food. It is responsible for the deterioration of the
installations, consumes 25 grams of food daily and is a carrier of a
important pathological load that is usually transmitted through its saliva. It
presents infestation of rats and mice due to the management of environments that
creates favorable conditions for proliferation such as disorder in the
facilities, inadequate cleaning and sanitation conditions, weeds
surrounding housing debris from unused elements in the open air.
Its fur, urine, saliva, and feces are highly contaminating.

pathogenic microorganisms.
Black Rat or Roof Rat (Rattus rattus): The roof rodents are
they can be found in ceilings, trees, nesting in warehouses, barns.
Appearance: 16 to 24 cm in length, tail longer than the head and the
body, weighing 150 to 200 grams, pointed snout, large ears and
small body compared to the guaren (Rattus norvegicus). Cycle of
life, from 5 to 10 offspring per litter, from 3 to 6 litters per year, the period of
gestation is about three weeks, it takes 12 to 16 weeks from its
birth to sexual maturity. They are agile and can climb walls,
they hardly ever dig and are seldom seen outdoors, their preferred food
they are fresh fruits or foods with high water content, eat one

House mouse (Mus musculus). Small and slim, they weigh between 10 to 21 grams.
long ears, semi-nude and long tail; measures 7 to 11 cm in length,
very variable coloration, from grayish brown to light gray on the back and
from gray to white in the belly. They are very curious about new objects in
common places for them, often preferring food
new to those already known. Generally, they seek to settle near
food storage areas. They are territorial. They eat from a
intermittently, they are basically omnivores; adults consume
between 3 and 4 grams of food daily. Cereals and various seeds are their
preferred food.
THE RATS CONTROL IS CARRIED OUT AS FOLLOWS:
NON-TOXIC MEASURES (ADHESIVE TRAPS): The traps
adhesives are a non-toxic mechanism that uses trays of
glue inside where the rodents are attracted by a
natural bait or attractive product.
TOXIC MEASURES (FEEDING STATIONS): Container
removable bait holder, fundamental element for compliance of
HACCP, GMP, AIB standards, etc. Can be used as a trap
adhesive, crocodile device and feeder. In addition, the rodents
they find in the trap a kind of dark refuge that is what
they prefer.
LOCATION OF BAIT STATIONS: Baits will be placed.
