MODULE 3

DIGITAL TOOLS IN DELIVERING

TECHNOLOGY – ENHANCED LESSON
OBJECTIVES

Select and use appropriate digital tool in teaching

Identify a number of alternative ways in incorporating digital technology
BASES FOR SELECTING APPROPRIATE DIGITAL
TOOLS IN TEACHING
EDUCATORS CAN SELECT APPROPRIATE ICT TOOLS THAT ENHANCE TEACHING AND LEARNING
EXPERIENCES WHILE ALIGNING WITH THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS AND GOALS.
1. Learning objectives: The first consideration should always be the learning
objectives of the lesson or curriculum. The ICT tool should align with these
objectives and support the desired learning outcomes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Where to find them

Consider the Most Essential Learning Competencies of DepEd
2. Student needs: The tool should meet
the specific needs of the students.
Consider factors such as age, grade
level, learning style, and any individual
needs or preferences.
3. Pedagogical approach: The ICT tool should align with
the chosen pedagogical approach or teaching method. For
example, if the teacher follows a constructivist approach,
they may look for tools that allow for collaboration and
active student engagement.
4. Accessibility and inclusivity: Consider the accessibility features of the ICT tool
to ensure that all students, including those with disabilities or special needs, can
participate and benefit from its use. The tool should be inclusive and provide
options for differentiation.
5. Ease of use: The tool should be user-friendly and easy for both teachers and
students to navigate and operate. Complex or difficult-to-use tools may hinder
the learning process or create unnecessary barriers.
6. Cost and availability: Consider the cost and availability of
the ICT tool. It should be affordable and accessible to the
school or educational institution. Open-source or free tools can
be particularly useful in this regard.
7. Technical requirements: Ensure that
the ICT tool is compatible with the
existing technological infrastructure of
the school or classroom. Consider
factors such as internet connectivity,
hardware requirements, and software
compatibility.
8. Support and training: Check if the
ICT tool offers technical support and
training resources for teachers and
students. Adequate support and
training are essential for successful
implementation and utilization of the
tool.
9. Feedback and reviews:
Read reviews and seek
feedback from other
educators who have used the
ICT tool. Their experiences and
insights can help in making an
informed decision.
ONLINE EDUCATIONAL APPLICATIONS THAT CAN BE
HELPFUL TO TEACHERS
1. Learning Management Systems
(LMS): LMS platforms like Google
Classroom, Canvas, and Moodle
provide a centralized hub for teachers
to distribute resources, manage
assignments, and facilitate
communication and collaboration with
students.
2. Presentation Tools: Presentation
tools like Microsoft PowerPoint,
Google Slides, or Prezi allow
teachers to create visually
engaging slideshows for delivering
content and lectures.
3. Video Conferencing Tools:
Platforms like Zoom, Microsoft
Teams, and Google Meet enable
teachers to conduct live virtual
classes, host discussions, and
facilitate remote learning.
4. Interactive Whiteboards:
Interactive whiteboards, such as
SMART Board or Promethean
Board, allow teachers to display
and interact with digital content,
annotate, and engage students in
interactive activities.
5. Educational Apps and
Websites: There are numerous
educational apps and websites
available across subjects, such as
Khan Academy, Duolingo, Quizlet,
and Scratch, which provide
interactive lessons, quizzes, and
learning resources.
6. Online Collaboration Tools: Tools like
Google Docs, Padlet, or Microsoft
OneNote facilitate collaborative work
among students, allowing them to
collaborate on documents, share ideas,
and provide feedback.
7. Digital Assessment Tools: Tools
like Kahoot!, Quizizz, or Socrative
allow teachers to create interactive
quizzes and assessments to engage
students and assess their
understanding.
GROUP TASK

For each group, identify a teaching scenario or situation. For example,

"Teaching an elementary science lesson on photosynthesis," or "Teaching a
primary school math lesson on addition and subtraction.“ Identify the learning
objectives for the lesson and discuss the different digital tools that can be used
to support these objectives.
The task is to select appropriate digital tools that align with the learning
objectives and meet the other bases for selection. Explain your choices and how
you will use the tools to support the lesson.
