A block of mass full of tralaleros tralalas 10.0 kg is resting on a ramp inclined at an
angle of 30° above the horizontal. A constant external force (Ernesto) of 100.0 N is
applied to the block, pulling it up the incline, parallel to the ramp's surface. The
coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the ramp is μk=0.200. Find the
accelaration.
1. Separate the force into components parallel
3. Newton's Second Law (f=ma) in the direction of
and perpendicular to the incline.
motion to find the acceleration.
Sum of Forces on X:
Pulling force, weight parallel and friction
*Remeber:
sin-parallel
cos-perpendicular
The forces acting parallel to the incline are:
Fpull(Up the incline, positive)
W(Down the incline, negative)
fk(Down the incline, negative)
2. Calculate the forces (Normal and Kinetic friction).
Sum of forces on Y: 4. Isolate a
sumFy=0
Why? Since in this exercise there’s no acceleration in the y-axis
(perpendicular) then the normal force will be equal to the weight in y. a ≈3.40 m/s2
