Pisiculture (Fish Farming)

The sub-surface tank is used for farming fish. The tank is split into partitions and fish are bred in
different time intervals so that yields can be obtained throughout the year.

1. 8 partitions of subsurface tank used to grow fish

2. Each partition can accommodate 1,000 Viraal fish.

Vermicomposting

The farm has vermicomposting pits on either side of the cow sheds. These pits can yield 50 tons
of manure per month. The manure will primarily for captive consumption. Any excess will be
sold.

Agriculture

Fodder

The farm has about 50 acres for growing fodder crops like Maize, Agathi (Sesbania Grandiflora),
HEDGE LUCERNE a.k.a VELIMASAL (Desmanthus virgatus), Sorghum and Leucaena a.k.a
Soundal.

Technology driven programs like Hydroponics based cultivation of fodder is in the process of
being adopted in large scale to improve the quality of fodder and reduce the cost of production
or procurement of forage for livestock. The pilot of this program is generating 100 Kgs of fodder
per day and the goal is to produce 5000 Kgs per day.

Vegetables

The farm is adopting organic vegetable cultivation. Vegetables are grown in an area of 30 acres
and are also grown as intercrop between Coconut trees. Appropriate structures are in place to
grow climbers and creepers. The current production level is at 200 Kgs per day and the goal is
to produce 1000 Kgs per day.

Long term Plants

The farm has 4000 coconut plants which are in various stages of growth. The earlier plants
(about 500 plants) have started yielding about 100 nuts per day. After a period of 4 years, these
trees are expected to yield about 2000 nuts per day. In addition, we have planted about 10,000
Palm Trees along the 8 KM road stretch inside the farm.

Drumstick and Lime are the other medium term crops grown in the farm. About 900 drumstick
plants have been planted and it is expected to yield 10 tons in the first year and will increase to
30 tons in the fourth year and 600 Lime trees are planted and expected to start yielding in
about 3 years.

Apiculture (Beekeeping)

Beekeeping is another important activity taken up by the farm. This immensely helps in
pollination and also creates another revenue stream from honey. About 75 beehive boxes have
been setup and 30 are active. 200 beehive boxes are planned to be kept in open. Honey
production will reach 100 kgs every 45 days.
