COURSE DESCRIPTION
The major focus of this course is to introduce students to Information Communication Technology in LIS.
This course also presents a thorough introduction to computer system, classification of computer and
components of a computer. The students are also introduced to basic application software such as MS
Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, students will also be acquainted with computer networking and
computer-based information systems. The course concludes with Application of computer-based
information systems to library.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The main objective of this course is to introduce the students to Information Communication Technology
in LIS. The specific objectives are:
To introduce the students to computer system
To educate the students on the classification and components of computer
To introduce the students to basics of application software
To introduce the students to computer networking
To examine computer-based information systems
