GRADE VII, SUBJECT: – SCIENCE
Title: "Science Explorers: Unveiling the mysteries of summer"
Introduction:
Welcome, young scientists, to an exhilarating summer adventure! This assignment is crafted to
spark your curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of science while you enjoy your vacation.
Get ready to embark on a series of captivating explorations that will unveil the mysteries of the
world around you. Let's dive in!
Activity 1: " Observation Journal”:
Keep a daily journal for one week, documenting at least one interesting scientific observation each
day. This could be something you see, hear, or experience in your surroundings. Describe the
observation, ask questions about it, and speculate on possible explanations. Use drawings,
diagrams, or photographs to illustrate your entries.
Activity 2: " Science Quiz”:
Create a science quiz consisting of 10 multiple-choice or short-answer questions based on topics
covered in class. Be sure to include questions from various branches of science such as physics,
chemistry, biology, and environmental science. Provide the correct answers along with
explanations.
Activity 3: "Creative Chemists: Kitchen Science Experiments"
• Turn your kitchen into a laboratory and conduct fun and educational chemistry experiments
with the help of your parents. Explore concepts such as chemical reactions, states of matter, and
acids and bases using household materials. Create fizzy bath bombs, balloon rocket, volcano
eruption, colourful slime, or homemade lava lamps while learning about the science behind the
magic.
Activity 4: "Nature's Palette: Exploring Variegated Leaves and Their Secrets"
Make a scrap file of various variegated leaves in your neighbourhood.
▪ Identify variegated leaves in parks, gardens, nurseries, in your neighbourhood
▪ Press these leaves under a flat heavy weight for 5-7 days
▪ Take a scrap file with coloured pages. On the left side paste the pressed leaves
▪ Try to identify these leaves with the help of your parents, books, encyclopaedias, internet,
google lens, etc. or take help from your teacher.
▪ On the right side write the names of identified leaves, any industrial/ economic/ medicinal
use of the leaf; any other relevant researched information as well as the pigments responsible for
various colours of the leaf.
Activity 5: A Colourful Clay Model Display
Make a small model of layers of human teeth using clay of various colours and display it on an A4
sheet. Research and prepare a 2-minute talk on dental health and hygiene-
• Role no. 1-10 – Normal teeth
• Role no. 11-20 – Enamel decay
• Role no. 21 -30 – Dentin decay
• Role no. 31 – last – Involvement of Pulp
Activity 6- Toys from trash
• Visit Arvind Gupta’s site (for reference). Make any four simple toys/ games/ puzzles ( using
waste material) related to different concepts of -
a) Electric current and its effects
b) Heat
c) Light
Activity 7- Reflection
• Write a reflection on your experiences during this science adventure vacation.
• Discuss what you learned, what surprised you, and how this assignment changed your
perspective on natural world.
