Basic Statistical Analysis Procedure
Objective: To perform basic statistical analysis by calculating the mean, median, and
mode of a data set.
Tools and Materials:
- Data set
- Calculator or computer with spreadsheet software (like Excel)
Steps:
1. Collect Data: Prepare the data set you wish to analyze.
2. Sort Data: Arrange the data from the smallest to the largest value.
3. Calculate Mean: Add all the data values and divide by the total number of data points.
4. Determine Median:
Find the middle value of the sorted data.
- If the data count is odd, the median is the middle value.
- If the data count is even, the median is the average of the two middle values.
5. Find Mode: Identify the value that appears most frequently in the data set.
6. Interpretation: Analyze the calculation results to understand the distribution and trends
of the data.
Note: Ensure the data used is accurate and has been verified for valid results.
