Topic: Computer Symbols

Time Allotment: 60 minutes

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. Identify common computer symbols used in various applications.

2. Explain the meaning and function of each symbol.
3. Appreciate the importance of understanding these symbols in using computer
systems efficiently.

Cognitive: Identify and recall the common computer symbols.

Affective: Show appreciation for the use of symbols in digital communication.
Psychomotor: Sort and match computer symbols with their corresponding meanings.

o PowerPoint Presentation
o Visual aids (pictures of computer symbols)
o “4 Pics 1 Word” slides for motivation
o Envelopes with printed symbols for group activity
o Rubrics sheet
III. Procedure

A. Preparatory Activities (10 minutes)

2. Checking the attendance

“Let’s check your attendance. When I call your (Teacher calls the roll.)

B. Motivation (5 minutes)

Activity: 4 Pics 1 Word

Present the following common computer symbols using PowerPoint and ask students to
read aloud and describe where they’ve seen them:

1. Divide the class into three groups.

2. Each group receives an envelope containing printed computer symbols.
3. Task: Identify each symbol and write a short explanation of its meaning and use.
4. Post answers on the board or manila paper.

IV. Assignment

Instruction:
Collect and paste pictures of different symbols that you encounter every day (computer,
phone, road, or packaging). Label each symbol with its meaning.
Use a short bond paper.

V. Remarks / Reflection

 Strengths: Students were active during group work and were able to identify most
symbols correctly.
 Areas for Improvement: Reinforce symbol meanings through practice exercises.
