I. Observation Guide
A. While in class, try to get information on the following questions.
1. What is the grade and section that you have observed?

2. How many boys and girls are there?
21 boys and 13 girls
3. What is the religion of the majority of the students?
Roman Catholic
4. What is the common mother tongue of the students?
Hiligaynon
5. Does the class have a student who belong to an ethnic group or other nationality?
Yes. We have a female student form Vietnam and a male student from Manila.
We have also a male student that has Half Swiss and half Middle Eastern nationality.

B. List down 5 strategies that your cooperating teacher can use to address the individual
differences (linguistic, cultural, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds) of the students.
Strategy 1:
Encourage students to make a connection between a lesson's benefits and their own lives.
Strategy 2:
Accept the variety of instructional methods. Lessons that make an effort to account for
various communication preferences, cognitive styles, and aptitudes increase the likelihood
that they will be understood by all students.
Strategy 3:
Discover the cultural origins of your kids and show a regard for them. Teachers serve as role
models for their students, showing them how to respect and accept people from all cultures.
Strategy 4:
Develop a relationship and work closely
Strategy 5:
Gaining knowledge of students' life outside of the classroom will help you better tailor your
teaching. Consider using illustrations that can be relevant to kids from various origins and
cultures.

Her strategy is very cooperative and at the same time the students are very
interested.

1. Does the number of boys and girls affect the classroom instruction? How?
It does not affect how many boys are there or girls are there.
2. Does the religious background of the students affect the preparation of the lesson? How?
Not at all. They are equal.
3. Does the mother tongue of most students affect the medium of instruction?
Yes. The two students cannot understand the mother language of the majority of the class.
4. Do the socio-economic differences of the students affect their learning? How?
The socioeconomic status (SES) of young children affects their cognitive, linguistic,
psychological, physical, and emotional development.
5. Are contextualization, localization and indigenization of the curricula being done to fit the
cultural background of the students?
Yes. Writing an essay on the importance of contextualization, localization, and indigenization
in curriculum requires a clear understanding of these concepts and their significance in
education.

I observed each one of them and I witnessed that most of the students are identified their strengths
and weaknesses.
2. How are you going to use the learner’s needs and interests in creating a more effective instruction?
Give your students time and opportunities to explore their interests and to discover
what they truly love to do, so they can develop their knowledge and the skills needed
to succeed in the areas they are passionate about.

Reflection Questions for Module 3
After this week of classroom observation and completing the learning activity sheets for
Module 3, complete the following:
1. I realized that recognizing that we all bring unique perspectives to the table and
valuing our differences as well as our similarities.
2. I believe that although a student may appear uninterested or antisocial it may be
because they have come from a different background and what is acceptable in our
culture may be quite different in theirs. With this understanding, we will be better
able to help our students adapt into the classroom environment and our cultural
norms.
3. I feel that language has a bigger role in classroom.
4. When I become a teacher I will adjust the language barriers and also be inclusive.
